They obviously thought he was. Whether we agree with it or not doesn't really matter. The point is he was rated highly enough by neutrals to be nominated. I'm not aware of any other City players doing that last season. The talk on here is like he's a total joke which is obviously not the case. I can understand that people don't like his attitude in pre-season or his apparently wanting out, but he's a much better player than is being made out.
He was trying last season but still didn't look good. It's a conundrum because I assume he must have some talent, maybe he's just not settled here or mentally he's just out of it for some personal reason. Whatever the case I don't think even Silva would want to buy him at this point.
He had potential last season, but wasn't good enough for the PL at that stage Whether that was due to him taking time to adapt to the English game or due to a fundamental quality issue we don't 100% know For what it's worth I think if he stays, and has the right attitude, he could be good in the Championship (assuming he works hard on the 'hitting a barn door' training sessions!) If he focusses and has a good season then he might earn a PL spot, if he doesn't have one in the Champs then we'll know exactly why he didn't really live up to billing last year
If we can get what we paid - I'm dubious about the figures quoted for that btw - it'd be a miracle. Surely nobody would buy him on form and it would only be a punt based on previous performances in other leagues / internationals.
Been there, done that , been in the trouble for it They were fun, I literally had a radio plugged into my pc through an aux cable and streamed it through a small site with chat ... was good fun and we always had good banter on there Definitely not and I would not recommend anyone else try to do it
Very true, but if I remember rightly, the majority of city supporters couldn't believe he had even been nominated?
I think some people are judging Grosicki by his price tag, thinking a £9m signing must have some ability. Fact is we were fleeced on January desperation day, he was a bench warmer for a middling mediocre French Ligue 1 team who struggled to get in the first 11 during his entire time there, and never made more that a couple of starts in a row. He doesn't really have any ability, anyone who's watched him can see that. It's all well and good being fast and willing to show for the ball, but when you try to kick it towards door, and it ends up with window, or with wall, you're going to struggle in professional football (like he does).
I have to agree, I wouldn't say he no ability, but for a professional of his level his shooting is appalling.
To be fair, I have sympathy for you on this; it's remarkable anyone takes anything you post seriously, such is the nonsense you now post.
In this I wholeheartedly agree with you. There appears to be another bandwagon rolling and that's disappointing. Twotter isn't game time and friendlies a poor benchmark. Edit: I would leave the Abel comparison out of it; I always find it sad that folk need to pull down one player to big-up another.
I would have loved it if he had put loads of crosses in which people were not on the end of, truth is every single cross he put it in with his left foot just rolled to the front post , he has as much power in his left foot as Stephen hawking - he could be a pretty decent right winger , whenever he found himself there he put in some decent balls, but apparently he insists on playing down the left
My memory's fine thanks, can I suggest a quick look at their individual stats. It'll take less than 5 min to see their records are really very similar. They were two great strikers, if I was pushed I would probably pick Waggy before Edwards, but he was never a long way behind.
My memory tells me that Edwards is probably the best pure striker I've seen at City, but then logic kicks in and I remember he never played in the top flight and Long and Jelavic were probably much better than him.
Indeed. Saying Edwards, Wiggo et al are our best is like saying Burgess and Allsopp are up there as our best ever partnership. I mean, they destroyed the bottom division... Hernandez looked brilliant in our last promotion season but was completely lost bar for a few initial games in the Prem. Point made, goodnight.
