I had a no bet day today on the basis I knew the heavens were going to open and Goodwood generally throws up some funny results. I was close to backing ribchester at 11/10 this morning but decided to wave the no bet banner. Sensible as it turned out. Glad to hear that the forums best tipsters get it wrong at times..

Dunno why no ones mentioning the ride Will Buick give RIBCHESTER yesterday? Did he forget to ride the second last furlong, only thinking of riding again once he was passed???? One of the strangest rides I've seen. And another thing when are people going to admit their horse simply wasn't good enough? Always the case certain self proclaimed judges on here will pick one, hype them up (not to mention severely ridicule the opposition) and when they get stuffed we're always given the excuses and hear how it's always the horse to take from the race/best horse going forward etc. Just be a man and admit you're wrong ffs and you might actually get some respect
I think if he could ride that race again, things may be different. The pacemaker missing the start caused a problem right out of the gate for them though. I don't know wether that was deliberate, but with the weather, you don't want to be making the running, you want some cover. I still do not know what happened when he appeared to get found flat footed, but if Buick had gone a stronger pace off the turn and hugged the stand side rail straight away i know Ribchester would have been tough to pass. Instead he made it easy for them, by allowing them to be on terms before he layed down his challenge. This is admittedly all easy to say in hindsight, as I'm sure Buick wouldn't have expected him to hit a flat spot at a crucial stage. Even though he still should have been good enough to win, I think in hindsight you could say Ribchester is better suited to flatter galloping tracks like Ascot and Newbury, rather than a very undulating course like Goodwood. He's a big powerful horse, who doesn't look to be the most agile. It took him a while to get going last year at Goodwood, before finishing strongly, so its probably not an ideal track for him.

Been very busy lately Ron with work taking me to Spain and recently purchased a property not far from the home of national hunt so not been following of late...plus it's the flat which doesn't appeal as much as the jumps for me.
You can't be doing much better than me and Stick with your bets if you've had to move to Gloucestershire
