Speaking of strikers, Ivan Toney has been in superb form recently, all be it with the u23s. He scored a hat trick tonight vs as az alkmar, Maybe he should be given a shot in the friendly vs Verona.
Apparently we are trying to convince Lucas Perez to come to us from Arsenal. I think he wanted to go back to Spain but Arsenal struggling to get their money back from any Spanish clubs. Arsenal fans seem to think he was good though.
Happily have Perez but I think he fancies going home. We won't pay the money. We are doing everything on the cheap as usual.
The article in the Sun suggests Arsenal want to sell, whereas Deportivo want a loan and that is what has meant be might be available for a sale to another club. I would take him if the price was right. They paid 17million for him and he hardly got a game so cant be wanting more than that can they (he said hopefully).
Talk down in Lahndan town is that they'll be happy to take around £10-12m for him Also suggestions we're still looking at Gibbs but not interested in Wilshire - not sure how true any of this last bit is however
Does anyone seriously want Sturridge? We've already got our own unreliable crock of a striker in Gayle, why would we want someone who makes Gayle look positively fit?
I think unfortunately Sturridge is a complete perma crock. Otherwise he is a massive upgrade on our current strike force. He pulled up again the other day almost straight after scoring a nice goal.
Yeah I know you meant that. I just find it bizarre that clubs continue to be linked with him in the Gossip column, obviously Klopp would offload him in a heartbeat if an offer came in, but I refuse to believe that any club would make a serious offer and pay a large fee and big weekly wages just to have him in the treatment room constantly. Having said that Kieron Dyer somehow managed to keep getting new contracts...
Same with a player like Ben Arfa - causes trouble pretty much everywhere he goes, but keep getting new clubs I guess all managers think "I can do better with him than everyone else"
Or do you mean Carl Cort Howard Wilkinson, chairman of the League Managers' Association: "My best memories of Bobby are the funny ones, all the more funny because he remained blissfully unaware, nor offended that his faux pas became a source of such fun. "At one England Under-21 gathering, I selected Shola Ameobi who was a young striker at Newcastle under him. Bobby had also bought at great expense Carl Cort, a striker from Wimbledon. "Shola had about six Christian names, most of them, to me, unpronounceable and in an attempt to put him at his ease on his debut performance, I called the lad over and asked him what Bobby called him when he was at the club. "With absolutely no sense of resentment, rather more with a sense of love and understanding, Shola said, 'Carl Cort, mostly'.
That's him, the Demigod. If that fat knacker Neymar is worth £198m, how much is a god like Shola worth.
Lucas Perez has apparently handed in a transfer request, can't believe we aren't willing to pay E15m for him. Not proven in the league but when you think you could get 7 of Perez for the price Lukaku's just gone for it has to be worth a shot if we want another striker in the door. Make's me think he isn't Rafa's main target and we are being linked with him to try and get a deal on someone else "over the line".
Wenger interview today on sky seemed to indicate its possible Perez will move "on loan". First time that has cropped up so maybe we are trying that knowing the opposition can't afford his wages and keeping our money now for other targets, if we have any money without selling that is
