I seem to remember we had a poll, about whether to restrict the transfer rumour thread to only those rumours that had a link to a (however dubious) source. The "as you were" option won hands down. If we had adopted that rule the thread would be on page 5 by now, although I think that Les has decided to test our resolve on this one to destruction.
Quiet in the sense of outgoings but I'm sure most people would've hoped/expected a few more incoming by now

I fear this is the calm before the storm and within a week we will have lost VVD and maybe Bertrand. The takeover looks in doubt and we will have just wasted a whole window yet again.
Whilst I don't share your complete negativity, i do somewhat agree that we have wasted a transfer window. If there were someone on the verge of signing there would be a fair bit of a noise about it (there always is) so this indicates to me that there isn't anyone really close. There are 18 days til the first league game, probably knock off 5 of those days for getting a signing done and it doesn't leave much time to get a new player integrated and up to speed with the other players. If we sign nobody else, but also don't lose anyone then next season will most likely be similar to last season. I feel most teams around us have, on paper at least, strengthened. We have a new manager who hopefully will get more out of the squad than Puel did and who has a far easier set of circumstances to deal with than Puel, so if all remains the same I hope we can secure a top half finish with the squad as is. I highly doubt we could achieve much more though.

One of them is from about page 2 of this thread, and the other is from The Sun. I wouldn't get too excited!
There's not always a lot of noise. Take Gaston for example. Nobody had ever heard of him. There was no rumours or anything. Next minute we've announced a record signing, completely out of the blue (ink).
