Seriously?? You really can't compare these two deals, Sczezney's in the final year of his contract, plus we are selling him to a foreign club, we are basically selling a player we don't want, therefore in those circumstances, we are never going to get an amazing transfer fee. Pickford was Sunderland's best player last season, and is of course English, so you need to consider that extra add on to his transfer fee, most of the deals that are taking places between English clubs are ****ing insane at the moment.

I cant say I even noticed Pickford last Season. Sczezney had an excellent Season at Roma.

He's got a ton of experience - yet is only 27.Played in the Champions league, Was solid at Arsenal (not spectacular but solid -Won EPL golden gloves in 2012-13).

Considering most keepers peak in their early 30's Juventus got a absolute bargain.

We didn't help ourselves by running his contract down and not marketing him well. It was quite obvious that we were trying to get rid, so it's no surprise we're getting basic money.

There are a few others we're looking to flog this season, so teams will get further bargains from us.

Being linked to Leon Goretzka today. He'd be a brilliant signing I reckon. He was really good for Germany in the U-21 championships and he could be a good long term replacement for Santi. Bayern are in for him too apparently so we've got a battle on our hands with that one.

Yeah - really like the look of this kid. 6'4' makes alot of interceptions and is really good on the ball. Proper box to box player.

Ignoring the main points, One, Sczezney's contract situation, plus the fact we don't want him. Secondly, Pickford is English and is being sold to Everton from Sunderland, you may not have noticed him, but the media did, playing in such a **** team, Pickford got the chance to make load of saves. I have no time for Gazidis or Wenger, but you can't blame them too much for not getting more money on Sczeney considering the various different factors involved.

I think you are ignoring the mian points.

    1. Experienced keeper yet still only 27. (best years ahead of him)
    2. Had a an excellent Season in Italy last year.
    3. Arsenal fan - We could easily have tied him down to another deal. The Club chose to let the contract wind down.

    £10million is dirt cheap.

I would have liked to have seen us get a bit more for Szczesny, but as Sanj says he was in his last year of contract so we were never going to command a big fee. Also for a player that had been out on loan and wasn't even 4th choice at Arsenal it's another factor that reduces his fee.

Personally I'm just glad to see us shifting some deadwood.

Wenger chose to let his contract wind down for a reason, he had a dreadful season two years ago, then there was the off the pitch problems, Chensey knew that Wenger lost faith in him, so he was hardly going to sign a new contract. With no PL teams interested and his contract situation, the fee is the best we could have hoped for.

Not the best in terms of business sense from us, but one thing you can't accuse us of doing is screwing players over. We loaned him out to a top club and got his future sorted out. It's turned out to be better for him this way, as I couldn't see a future with us.

Dunno 10m for shezny in this market is a bargain especially since he had a good season before. In this stupid market you have the likes of pickford for 30, keane (final year as well) for 25, barkley is supposedly 50, even berahino who was benched for a year and a half went for more than that. Hell stewert from liverpool who no one knows about went for 8m!

All those deals have taken place within the Prem, where every club is loaded. Juve were hardly going to offer us an amazing transfer fee for a player that our manager does not want and when Juve already have Buffon, who might still play for another season or two.

Buffon isn't exactly going to be playing much longer soon and they do and can spend big money. They have loads of money from the cl and sale of bonnuci.

Hell they spent 70m on higuain last year!

But they're not idiots who choose to spend £30m on Pickford and Keane because that's the level of player they can attract. Higuain was worth it. They're not going to spend silly money on an average keeper. If Szseszny was that good, he'd be playing for us. Those players that have left for silly money were first teamers and wanted by their clubs and were sold to stupid rich prem teams with more money than sense.

Sadly none of them were stupid enough to bid £30 for szseszny.

You've hit it on the head, they aren't stupid enough to spend that much. All the silly buying has been largely taking place in the PL.

To BobbyD: The bottom line is if Chesney was good enough then either us or another PL club would have gone for him. Any PL club could have bought him for around £10m too if they were interested. But no one showed any interest.

After getting the Pogba money, they invest wisely, not like many moronic PL cubs.

major rumours now that PSG are very interested in Sanchez, and apparently he was in a hotel in Paris today...

John Cross saying PSG are going to bid 70m for him.

If thats true, I would probably take that money and quickly reinvest. It would get rid of this cloud of uncertainty above our heads.
