Yeah agreed a forward seems to cover any attacking player now. I imagine Boufal would be called a forward but he's certainly not a striker. If he contributes to winning games though then it's not a waste of money in my book.
Money isn't wasted on a loanee if he contributes and does what you want. Sometimes it might be better to take a loan and wait for a player you want, than buy a player just because you have a vacancy in that position. Les and co don't think short term, but think several seasons ahead. Perhaps they want this player, but would like to look at him first.
Unless you're in banking that is... ...as regards Patrick Roberts, isn't he a Liverpool fan? What could possibly go wrong.... ;-)
It's a waste of money compared to signing a player who contributes to winning games, especially in the long term. I have no problems with loans to fill a gap when it's an emergency, but even then it's better to play the likes of Stephens if we have them imo. That contributes far more to the success of the club than winning a game or two.
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if we do - we've bought replacements before selling before. Buying a VvD replacement this year before selling him next year would be a very Saints thing to do.
I'm usually a lender and sometimes I even get some back....but I much prefer that to being a borrower unable to pay back.
St Godders said: ↑ Neither a lender or borrower be. That is a very good maxim to live by. And for those with kids, you will know that you are both.....
"If this deal goes through for Southampton, it will be a clear sign that the Saints might be considering to sell Liverpool target Virgil Van Dijk." A CLEAR sign that we MIGHT be CONSIDERING? Where do these get these people from!!!
This has all now become seriously mendacious. It is like a ****ing conspiracy coordinated from that ****hole of a boot room at Anfield.
