He impressed Klopp substantially, and earned himself a long term deal only recently so they clearly liked something they saw. One thing we can put to bed now it any talk of asset stripping
Stewart has played in the Premier League, so League One quite obviously isn't the highest level he's played at. We're not going to pay upwards of £5m for someone and then not play him, he'll be starting XI material. We're not signing him instead of defenders, we'll be signing defenders on top. We've lost N'Diaye and Huddlestone and we're replacing them with Stewart, what's not to like?
As I said, the bulk of his appearances have been L1, he's made a handful of sub appearances in the league, not even sure if he's started any (again as I said to EPT if you know better, I'll stand corrected). I agree, he's hopefully starting XI material, otherwise I'm questioning the fee. As you said earlier, there's no way he should be a straight swap for Robbo, but add-ons would take it to essentially that if reports are to be believed. What's not to like is that we're replacing two experienced players with a relatively unproven kid.
Still don't know why Livermore left last season. Is this Stewart guy a better goalscorer? Until there's contrary evidence on the field (which of course I hope for) it looks like we've downgraded through this year.
He's started more league games for Liverpool than he has any other club (6), he's started 14 games for Liverpool in total. Which is more starts than Livermore had at Spurs when we signed him.
No. From Liverpool fans I've spoken to he has almost no attacking strings to his bow, but he's good at dropping into the defence to cover bombing runs from full backs.
Stewart is far more defensive, would be surprised if he scores at all. Of course we have downgraded this year, we got relegated, however Stewart is young and had a lot of potential
We were downgrading even well before we got relegated. Yes Silva and Slutsky are are very affable and come across well, but results on the pitch are what matters. Both were brought in as they had a reputation of making something out of little. Hopefully all this works out in the long run, but how someone comes across in interviews isn't my top priority. For the Allams it's probably a higher priority considering how **** they are at it.
I find it hard to believe, he's supposed to be on £100k a week, but RH have in their bulletins this morning, so I'll bung it on the list for now... please log in to view this image
China is very odd, and he was at Besiktas on loan last year. If I'm right can't they only have so many foreign players. It's still incredibly unlikely
