Can I just add the Falmouth looks a terrible race this year!! The top two in the market are not true group One horses- Roly Poly have to give it to her gets placed but will never win a normal standard G1 and Wuheida we haven't seen for a year so who knows if she is the same and the other 4 have no chance
LESHLAA - Newmarket 3:00 - 5/1 Put this one up at ascot and he stayed on into 5th netting some nice each way money at 40s. Today I think he wins. Has already beaten the johnston fave 5l albeit some time ago and over shorter. Regardless of that I just think he brings the best form to the race, fits the trends, race should be set up to suit, and I can see him coming with a late burst and picking them all up. Each way bet to nothing as will definitely be first 3. Monticello also worth a dabble at 9s. Johnston has an impeccable record in this race and I'd fancy this one to finish ahead of Titi Makfi
A Parfait start to the afternoon for William Buick. He is busy today – riding in the feature at HQ before heading to Paris. In the Grand Prix de Paris this evening, I expect Permian to try and make every yard to supplement his Royal Ascot victory. I expect Churchill’s sister (named after his wife) Clemmie will shade favouritism over Nyaleti in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes but it would be folly to give the latter too much of a lead. It is very hard to get enthusiastic about the Falmouth Stakes. Roly Poly has had a rear view of Winter the last twice and she has race fitness on Wuheida, who would have been my Guineas horse but fortunately connections saved my ante post money by declaring her absence a couple of months before. I think she will turn out to be the best filly in the field but just watching today. It would be no surprise to see Arabian Hope find enough improvement to cause an upset.
I'm surprised to see Venice Beach is as big as 10/1 in the Grand Prix de Paris. He saw alot more daylight in the Derby than ideal. He hasn't hit the heights I expected him to but he's worth another chance at that price.
..... and with Wuheida not proving to be the only potential G1 filly, there we have it. Surely the race will have to be downgraded after that
Still not having much luck, even forgot to enter day 2 of the comp☹️ Whilst in town I overheard a guy said he had 2 tips which could be garbage but they are both at York in the next two races. SHAY C and MOVE IN TIME. If both do well then obviously I will claim the glory.
Possibly a bit unfair on Wuheida, making her seasonal bow today. She was not knocked about too much when it was obvious she was not going to get past the winner. Since the race was ungraded to Group 1 the only obviously Group 1 winners have been Soviet Song, Goldikova, Elusive Kate and Alice Springs; although quite a few others have been beaten such as Finsceal Beo, Special Duty, Golden Lilac, Sky Lantern and Avenir Certain. I think it may be a bit premature to be downgrading it.
Yes it is premature, but if the race continues to fail to attract G1 rated horses it will come up for review. Apparently a G1 horse should have a rating of at least 115 and, going into the race, there was not one horse with a rating at that level. If a G1 race fails to attract G1 horses it's a pretty poor do. It means that horses can get a G1 on their CV when they aren't G1 rated European Pattern Committee Doesn't list the races as it did 2 years ago. I don't know how many consecutive years of failing to reach a certain standard it takes to get on the danger list. Guess we'll have to wait and see who runs in it next year. If it's anything like this year I suspect this race will be on the radar
Sorry Oddy. It was a bit boring. Maybe you should have hammered it home with a punch line Don't worry, I've already left
Sorry, Oddy, only just reading through everything. Seen enough of the first and last words combined in my life, so it deserves a laugh!
