He didn't have a good season Matth. He had a couple of good games, the rest he looked like an average PL midfielder. If he'd cost 25mil we wouldn't be having this conversation. He's not even close to being the best midfielder in that position (world class). Take your tinted glasses off and try being objective for once.
I disagree, I thought he controlled games and he was unlucky to hit the bar a couple of times as well.
Kante had no pre-season with us ... we won the title with a squad that cost 1/4 of Paul Pogba's transfer fee to United ... puts thing in perspective eh?
He's a #winner Something Liverpool and Spurs both have in short supply. No seriously though, his link up play needs refined, or reined in. He seems to opt for the spectacular a bit too often imo and that's the sort of thing that opposition fans will pick up on, the 40 yard over the top that ends up in the stands. Opposition fans will instantly forget the sublime 'ball of the season' type pass that he played into Harrop on the last day of the season because that sort of thing makes him look good. That's understandable, because I do the same with players like Henderson, just ignore his goal against Chelsea and focus on the fact that he just moves the ball around the middle of the pitch achieving nothing.
Without being biased, I thought he was excellent, The turning point for him was the Argentina game in my opinion.
He's a very good player who has struggled to maintain form for you, I'm not so sure that with Jose putting the brakes on him he'll be as effective. He's fine when he has a good DM behind him and he's allowed to do his thing but at Man Utd he's expected to track back a bit more than he is in that French team where Kante and Matuidi do a lot of the leg work. No reason for him not to shine as you have Matic but Jose will want more from him when defending.
