    A couple at Kempton tonight;

    MUSICAL DREAM 28/1 7:25
    yard is in decent form and this ones dam won on her AW debut. looks decent value at big odds.

    PROFESSOR 5/1 5.55
    has sunk from 107 to 83 and dropped in grade. a plummeting mark is not a good sign but this ones recent runs do suggest a big run is close at hand.

    Would agree that this one looks massively overpriced. If you go further back in the pedigree the grand-dam is Loch Verdi (Listed winner) and the great grand-dam none other than the legendary Lochsong

    Richard Hannon sends two up to Catterick for the first two races with claimers on both. Seems far enough to go but I reckon they have no chance. So with the luck I'm having at the moment I've decided on a double.

    Would love to hear the honest opinions of any of you able to watch the Lingfield 4.45 today.
    The question I have is, what was the winning distance?

    It was 2.25 lengths officially.

    Hard to argue with it.

    Don't know how I came up with that. Think I was looking at the wrong horse. BHA quote a length as "A length is a measurement of elapsed time as the horses cross the line and can vary on the size of the horse and its stride pattern, but in general would be about 8 to 9 feet". This implies that it's based on the time each horse passed the post and converted back to lengths. (although they seem to have retained some of the old definition). So if the winner was slowing up or the others were gaining, that could account for it. Timeform have it as 2.25l. Still, not as far out as the official winning distance of Sea Bird's and Ribot's Arc wins

    On the old visual basis, good 2.5l though I reckon.
