Of course he did, he could have sat on his arse at United and seen his contract out However, I'm fairly sure this 'willingness' is being driven by United giving him a sizeable golden handshake
Hmm .. I was meaning that he had no choice BUT to take a pay cut if he wanted to join Everton (or anyone else for that matter)
The Lukaku deal has probably made that 'cut' possible, as he's in essence not taken one..... It'd only be the 2nd year that will see him earn less, he'll have to make do with a mere £150k a week bless him.
I think he was on about £220k here, plus his image rights no doubt, so it'll be a fair hit he's taking to go 'home' but the lad's probably getting a few quid to send him on his way too as you say. It'll be weird watching him play against us, obviously he'll get a good welcome here whenever he comes unless he starts chewing off. I'm hoping it's all amicable and respectful.
He wouldn't deserve abuse from United fans and in fairness I don't think he'll get any from the vast majority. Unless he scored in the front of the Stretford end and kissed the badge (like he did at Goodison)
Banter innit, we'll just put him a statue outside Old Trafford if he does that. please log in to view this image
In don't think he has taken a hit at all Golden handshake, utd paying some of his wages possible signing on fee from Everton He's got all his 2 years worth and then some. If he had stayed at utd he would have got his basic as he wouldn't have played much
... Wayne has apparently been sleeping in Everton pyjamas every night for the last 13 years ... although in a United kit during the daytime for the last two
He's nailed on to do well at the start of the season but I'd say he'll end up on the bench sooner or later.
Rooney #confirms at his press conference he moved to get regular game time to try to get back into the England team
So his move is about England-related image rights earnings and **** all to do with Everton despite the 14 BBC articles peddling that "fairy tale"
