We should have gone for Vela on loan.

Same.. He would have added good creativity, technical ability and pace to our frontline options! :/

To be fair, last season was his first played as an out and out frontman, as opposed to playing on the wing, so 15 goals in 36 games isn't bad at all.

He is only 23 so I'm looking at the fact he scored 15 goals in Lique 1 for two crap sides so it's a yes from me Geoff.

When did a few comments on youtube become more reliable than the legitimate scouting of Carr and co.? If they're from Newcastle supporters, they won't have seen him play enough to know anything, and if they're from his present club, they're likely bitter about him stepping out of line. Or they're just people commenting based on the youtube videos themselves.
I don't know why this unsubstantiated review of the player so quickly convinced everyone to lose interest.

As time has passed I would like us to give up on Maiga, he's starting to sound more and more of a pratt really.
After remarks about him being in it for the money, he's coming across as a desperate striker who could turn out to be useless after he gets what he wants.
Sort of like the Ben Arfa saga, but not worth it.

I think we should go all out for Cissokho, I would rather have a left-back in than a striker by Saturday.

This exactly. Quite funny how impressionable some people are, if we do go for this lad it's because Carr and our scouts thought he would do a good job.

Modibo Maiga: "With Newcastle it's completely clear. They want me and I want to go there. The problem is Sochaux." (L'Equipe)

#NUFC target Modibo Maiga has not travelled to Ukraine with Sochaux for their Europa League clash with Metalist. He is still demanding move.

According to The Journal today, Cissokho wants to join, but Newcastle won't pay £8m. It takes the actual piss! He is well worth £8m, we got £5.5m from Jose and there is easily £2.5m left from the Carroll sale. Ashley is a joke.

No he was kicked out of the squad, sent to train with the reserves.
So he'll miss their Europa League match.
Sochaux want to keep him because without him, they're ****ed.

If we refuse to buy Cissokho for less than 15 million, Ashley is making one of the worst mistakes of his life.

Have you seen much of Maiga? I thought Marvin Martin (great name) was their star player?

Lyon want more than the £8million which Newcastle are not prepared to offer although interest is far from dead – and The Journal understands he was on the agenda when Derek Llambias visited the North East yesterday.

Please do one ****ing thing right Llambias, just one and get him!!

I love people actually taking that sort of media as concrete proof and then making up their own numbers for how much Lyon want for a player, how much we got for Enrique, etc... Whats the point? All of it is bullshit. Youre wasting your time.

Cissokho is a great player. He could easily play for a better team than us. We're going to get linked with any french player from now on. I havent seen any proper source mention we're actually in for Aly.
Pieters seem to be the only target theyre actually going for.

Is for Maiga, im not convinced on him. His attitude seems awful, but then Ben Arfa did the same. His record is alright for his age, he's clearly improving as he gets to better teams. Being set up by Boudebouz and Martin last season is obviously gonna help. I think theres better targets, but at least he seams a realistic one.

Maiga is still refusing to play for them in an attempt to push the transfer through. I hope this get's sorted soon, from his stat's someone posted earlier he has been improving every season scoring more goals in less appearances. I think he could do a job for us up front.

All these left back links are rubbish... Fat Mike will sign Bridge on a cheap loan and we'll sign some random striker no one is expecting as cover.
he's only bothered about mid table mediocracy.... just remember Pardew (Fat Mike's mouthpiece) changing his tune from us 'challenging for a European place' to..... 'our expectations are too high'. Smacks of a shift in emphasis/expectation to me.....
