I'd just assumed that was 4 goalkeepers, 2 defenders, 3 MF and 2 strikers, in a harrowing reflection of where our squad strength lies

 

Good use of the word 'harrowing'.

Very apt.

 

Firstly, if he has a release clause how can we possibly create a bidding war? Secondly, how do you replace one of the finest passers of a ball for £2m?

 

Firstly - yeah that's why I edited my post to ask if he has got one. Secondly - I'm not suggesting we replace 'one of the finest passers of the ball'. I'm suggesting we use a completely different style of player.

 

Agreed. We could do with someone with little ball kicking talent but who will sprint up and down for 90 minutes and get stuck in, giving away silly fouls etc in the process.

 

There is a middle ground between those 2 extremes. And Tom gives away ****loads of silly fouls.

 

for £2 million we wont buy a better player than Tom, i've been his biggest critic but that's because we (Bruce mainly) didn't use him in a role to get the best out of him. Technically he's one of the best players we've had and between our managers and possibly tom he's under achieved here

If we could sneak 11 outfield players onto the pitch I'd be more confident of promotion.
