Aidan O'Brien says this is the best 3 year old race in Europe. Fair point. Who's going to argue with the GOAT.
A good day which would have been a great day if the Godolphin horse had won the argument in the last furlong of the Northumberland Plate. The Weld horse that hosed up in the last at the Curragh was thrown in off his flat rating. So easy this game with the benefit of hindsight .
Well done Bob, Karlos, Ste and anyone else collecting today. Bit pissed the Lyons horse didn't win, flew home and only beaten a neck or so but just wasn't best positioned throughout in a tactical enough event. Can't even blame Ryan Moore for Laws of Spin, just not good enough on the day I'm afraid. I'll refrain now on from anymore flat handicaps darts (I promise)...
This was Wings Of Eagles best chance to win another race imo, made him 2/1 to win another race after the Derby, about 5/1 now. Provided they stick to targets befitting a Derby winner, I dont see where he is going to win anything. Was unlikely to ever get that freak pace set up again after Epsom. Suppose the one thing still in his favour is that the older horses arent exactly top grade either as shown by Highland Reel dominating the middle distance division, a horse who will always get beaten by a proper one. Flat crying out for Minding and Almanzor.
The jumps was garbage last season to be fair, all Mullins superstars injured, left a cakewalk for the only good horse left Buveur Dair all the best jump horses of recent times been kept apart from each other, dont see the trend changing any time soon flat racing becoming a bit of a joke as well with 5 ballydoyle, 4 godolphin and 3 hamdan making up most fields for group races Obrien breaking records but never in Cecils class, throwing all his galileos at every race going, stable jockey barely on any of the big winners abdullah the best owner and always seems to get the special horses as well rather than the galileo spamming and buy everything that moves brigades who get good but not great, never runs 5 or 6 in a race either
