Lets hope they are the strongest outfit to visit the vic this season ! As things are with present squad and set up , looks like a long hard season!
Very worried now. Doesn't sound like Iwelumo is up to it. Looking at the teams in the division and the results so far I can't see where very many wins are coming from. What's up with Buaben...why is he not even on the bench? We really must sign a decent playmaker and a striker soon.
Good win for you hammers; can you please tell me why Tomkins came off was he injured? Also think Watford will just about survive this year .
exactly. Tonight was like Swansea playing Man City. You can't tell, from this game, how our season is going to go. Last saturday and next Saturday are better pointers.
Knew this would be a difficult game but that doesn't make the scoreline any easier to bare. We need to win Saturday. The chances are there, we just need to make them count.
As an archaeologist, I'd like to apologise for this chap's errors. By the way vic, why did you only highlight the misuse of "is" ? What about the erroneous use of "less" ? Altogether now; "there are fewer options"
Unfortunately we were deservedly beaten tonight. Marvin was on his own up front while Olowumo was on,think it would be better to put Massey on from start and use Iwolumo as the sub when players have tired. Also as people have said Jenkins and Eustace are much of a muchness, drop one of them (probably Jenkins unfortunately) and play Deeney in an attacking midfield role. We need more goals from somewhere.
I didn't think we were too bad for 45 minutes but yet again a goal out of nothing killed us which suggests certain players lack confidence or even the heart to try and comeback albeit against a very good side as West Ham were. Sordell again seem to be leading the line well and in defence we were ok again. Midfield is a big worry..and the bench was very weak!
Heads up 'Orns, as it's been pointed out tis unfortunate that you played the Hammers before the transfer window closes. New players and a manager new to the job means it will take a bit of time. I think you will do a reverse of last season, instead of a great start and tailing off at the end, you will have this bedding in period now and finish on fire! And as us Saints found out last season, it's not how you start but how you finish!
That's a fair comment - we cannot forget who we are and our budget. Southampton's playing budget was something like £21m + £2m TV money last season (ours approx £10m). This season Southampton's budget is a lot more and ours is approximately the same as last season. It is clear Southampton are going to be competing above us in the league.
So far we haven't spent like some have, and I for one am happy about that. Adkin's has got a good team spirit going on and it will be interesting to see where it takes us. We got Jack Cork for 750k which is looking like a bargain and have a tricky looking winger which we didn't shell out loads for. Yes we have started well but i'm just happy we have some points on the board as there will be difficult time ahead!! You guys will be fine and I wish you all the best - apart from our two meets of course!
thanks Mr Smiler ...i hope you're right. i'm sure we'll be fine, as long as the team doesn't lose it's spirit through this rocky period...
That's the spirit Hornette! It's now you want the older/experienced heads of Eustace, Taylor and Doyley (I know he's not old) coming to the fore and getting the team firing and i'm certain they will!
That is if Eustace doesn't get himself sent off out of frustration as he nearly did tonight! lol...but yep, now's the time we need those old(er) heads!
The question now is where to go from here. I should think the players have the day off today and that will help everyone get the game out of their systems. Now its all about preparation for the Cov game. Clearly there are questions to be faced and the first is whether Iwelumo needs to be "rested out" (used to be known as dropped LOL). Dyche could go "radical" and start with Massey and Sordell. I think we need to explode our frustration against Coventry, a win would be a huge boost and settle our whole attitude down. A win would signal that we can be competitive in and around the lower half - and that is all I personally have asked for. A draw at Coventry would possibly point the way to a bit of a slog, but a defeat will definitely start to point towards troubled waters. COYH
