This is one the ways to spread money down the leagues and there will no doubt be a sell on fee as well. Makes financial sense to clubs (inc us in the past) to sell on some to buy more. And we will probably do better by a talented youngster than many other clubs.
I'm surprised anyone ever leaves. Thinking about it, you rarely meet people from Bury. Draw your own conclusions. Bloody hell, this is a slow new thread! Sorry to those who clicked here expecting news of an impending transfer. Signing a 16 year old from Bury remains the top news. Bloke in the pub last night, who claims to be an ITK, reckoned Bertrand was certain for LFC and Virgil was on his way "deffo". So there you have it, folks. Apparently his wife's cousin once slept with a lad from the boot room and although said lad now works in the local Morrisons he's kept up to date by ... (sorry I lost the will at this point). So there we are. More accurate than anything you might read in The Star, or hear on Sky.
The (unlikely yet still) mooted swap involving Bertrand and Iheanacho seems attractive at first glance. Want away grumpster versus potential star striker. But let's be sure to appreciate Bertrand's actual value here. He's every bit the player that Walker is and he's about to go for a fee in the region of £50m. I'd be wanting Iheanacho and Nasri for Bertrand please.
Very good point. I'd prefer to see two separate deals so that value is transparent. Ryan Bertrand cost us £10m if I recall. That was a lot for a full back (ignoring the absurd amount Man Utd gave us for Shaw), especially one who was trying to re-build a career. He's done that. His arse is stamped "Made in Southampton" and while I wish him well, we must ensure we get a decent return on the investment we've made in him.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/15380987.Saints_line_up_signing_triple_header/?ref=rss Bialkowski speaks highly of our new Polish signing (Bednarek?) saying he is reliable and good in the air and, in his view, the 2nd best Polish defender. Don't get excited by the title....the other 2 mooted signings are Stephens and Gallagher.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...mmer-hope-pursuit-13260602?service=responsive At last a touch of realism, reporter in Liverpool Daily Echo says Liverpool only have a glimmer of hope of signing Virgil. Says the hierarchy recognise that all hope ended when they made that apology, even though Klopp remains keen. Asks how long can Liverpool leave it before seriously looking to strengthen their defence. A related blog asked the same question and said that the fans would go mad if Lovren was their main CB next season. Poor Dejan.
Jeez, you're not kidding! James Pearce; stand up that man! Nice to read an article which sounded about 100% accurate all the way through. Good man.
As I said in the tap-up thread BBC rumour thread count today - Saints selling = 0, Saints buying = 1, Saints crises = 0 When did that last happen? Better enjoy it while it lasts
