I think we should all seriously consider that Grayson will turn us down. Everyone seems to be assuming that because we've shown an interest he's ours but it doesn't work like that.
Shows to me that Short has absolutely no intention of funding a promotion push. I think his plan is to bank the parachute payments, transfer fees and do everything he can to sell the club in the next year Giving it to a "steady hand" like Grayson to keep us around the middle of the tabe, not bothering the play offs but not looking like getting relegated
I hope we do get him, cos if we dont god knows how far low down we could stoop to. And another thing, why would he want to leave Preston for us for?
So do I, I'm just wondering what we're going to be offering him that will make him sack off Preston and come here. It's hardly a stick on that he'll go for it. Even if he's unsettled there he might decide better the devil you know.
Earlier post spot on, if he does end up at your gaff you will play solid unspectacular football, he gets results but tends to be a bit negative, apparently going to be announced tomorrow, personal view he has a tough job if he goes, think you need a major rebuilding job whether he is the man for it is anybody's guess. However he is a far better manager than MacInnes
Preston said he'd asked to be able to speak to us and they felt they had no choice but to let him (it was either on sky or the beeb, think it was sky). Sounds like he wants to come to us.
I think all the youngsters Moyes signed will come into their own next season. Ndong, Love and McNair will form part of our backbone imo. It's a good league for them to excel and I think all three will. As will the likes of Gooch and Watmore.
If Watmore can get among the goals early on, he could be a real star and a catalyst for the other U21,s who are knocking on the door. At the moment he is the only striker at the club with any experience of first team football, and he is the sort of character who may well thrive in such a situation, If he stays fit he will get game time and I would like to see him down the middle rather than out wide.
Graysons not a bad manager at all. He had Preston playing well last year with no money and he done a good job at Leeds but financial backing prevented him from taking them where he wanted. He bought through the likes of Snodgrass, Howson, Adam Clayton and Jake Livermore etc. Thats the kind of manager we need at the moment. We also need somebody who knows all about the rigours of the Championship. People may feel deflated because were used to big name managers that ultimatley end up letting us down so lets give Grayson a chance to see what he can do hey.
Totally agree mate. He knows the players we should require and the teams we are playing against. I am satisfied with this appointment. The little I saw of Preston I thought they played quite direct football. I just want the team to put a bloody shift in. Not too much to ask.
The funny thing is if we'd have appointed a random foriegner whos only ever managed abroad who nobody had heard of everybody would have been happy. We bring in an English manager who knows the league well and everybody spits their dummies out?
