Used to drink tea black. Now I like just a tiny bit in. I drink Assam so a bit of milk helps level the kick out and makes it string but smooth cup of tea. Just a tiny bit though. Don't do instant coffee either. Nowt to with snobbery, it's just as cheep as instant and my Assam cost less than branded tea. Just a matter of taste.
I'm a complete snob. Since I moved over here I've started working from home more and more so I bought a Breville Espresso machine, nothing too high end but it does it's job. I'll have half a dozen Espressos/Flat Whites a day. I don't feel too bad about it though as I spend more on coffee than I do on booze. With all that coffee I don't get round to tea much but I am partial to a strong green tea.
'Tis the way forward, I tell ya. Can't go anywhere near instant coffee as a result...each to their own, like. If I drink tea, I prefer it black these days. Gone are the days of milk and sugar!
If you like your coffee Vince, which you appear to, it's worth it. Lots of good coffee beans available in supermarkets etc these days, and nowt like a good grind in the morning....or afternoon, for that matter.
Good coffee for me: take Sunderland mug, add a large teaspoon of coffee, a bit of cold water, add just boiled water - plus a few biscuits Jaffa cakes - toppa I don't have black and white for shallow reasons
Buy some decent coffee beans - freshly roasted Turn on the espresso machine to heat it up Put beans in grinder Grind the beans very finely Turn on pressure briefly to prime the espresso machine Add ground coffee to filter holder and tamper firmly Place filter holder onto the espresso machine and place cup under the holder Turn on pressure for about 20 seconds then switch off immediately Steam some whole milk until smooth and creamy Pour into double espresso One flat white ready to drink
Being a lousy degenerate I make mine milk first. You can judge how much milk you put in the cup. Add the tea bag to the cup while pouring in the just boiled water and stir till happy with strength of tea. Must have been top tea as everyone in office liked it. Or maybe that's bollocks and that's why I was made redundant
I drink either because I'm thirsty. NO finesse and I'm not overly fussy. COFFEE. - Nescafe please. None of this ground stuff. Well named, tastes like I imagine soil to taste. TEA. - Comes out of a Tea Bag. Not bothered about the variety as long as it's ordinary tea. Leave the bag in the cup for a minute or so after the hot water goes in. Squeeze the bag between a couple of table spoons, into the cup. Repeat this and add milk. I have sweetener with coffee and sugar with tea. IF I was after taste I'd have Highland Park or Dalwhinnie. IF I was after volume I'd have Lager. As for buying a coffee in somewhere like MAKEBUCKS, the price would give me a heart attack, if not the cost, then the sugar content would do it! I'm a proud Philistine.
Any drink containing caffeine is a diuretic & therefore makes you even more dehydrated. Alcohol is another diuretic, hence sometimes you feel thirsty after a night on the piss. It dispels water from the body leaving you depleted of fluids.
But a cup of tea doesn't contain enough caffeine to to dehydrate you which is why tea can still quench a thirst nicely. No chance with coffee though.
Yorkshire Tea, medium strength no milk, haven't had milk in tea for over ten years. Never touch coffee. You'd think asking for tea made this way would be simple for people not to **** up but you'd be surprised what some can do with a teabag and boiling water.
