Sunderland dealt another managerial blow as Nigel Pearson rules himself out to succeed David Moyes please log in to view this image 24/06/17 15:43 Nigel Pearson, who won the Championship and League One as manager of Leicester City, has been touted as a candidate to succeed David Moyes but will not be pushing for the Sunderland role. Sunderland held talks with Aberdeen's Derek McInnes earlier this month while Preston North End's Simon Grayson has also been considered this is getting ridiculous now ffs
I'm assuming that until we get the club sold nobody of any quality will be interested, it'll be a different story when that's done.
I wouldn't be surprised if when the Germans are owners the list of potential managers is totally different to the one we've got now. Same for transfer targets I imagine.
I'm not happy with the current situation but I'm quite ok not having Pearson Not for me at all. But it's a horrific mess up atm
If this winning consortium takeover comes off I’m sure that they will have someone lined up. If it falls through and we end up with Short I think it were in the Do-doo (talk about car crash)!!!!
If push comes to shove I reckon Stockdale could give it a good go as manager - not just looking after the team for pre season friendlies etc. He has certainly seen examples of both how and how not to do the job. He also did well with the young uns.
Pearson should have kept his powder dry, or at least his trap shut, idiot. It will be interesting to see where some of these managers end up in a year or two..
Don't think the Scot will ever get another chance to cross the border, as for Pearson he has burnt bridges he may one day want to cross, only fools do that.
How? Don't get the manager hatred for turning us down. I would too. We're a laughing stock who can't even give a new manager more than a weeks assurance. If anything, we're the ones burning bridges continuing to approach managers while this takeover is on the cards. It's a divy thing to do. No prizes for guessing why everyone we approach is knocking us back. I think it's perfectly reasonable for all of them to say no.
This guy is a sack of ****. Couldn't be happier. Don't see us appointing anyone until the takeover is done.
Even though I thought he would have done a good job for us in the Championship, I'm not really that arsed that he has ruled himself out. The bigger question for me is...what does this say about SAFC when a guy who is OUT OF WORK...rules himself of a job with a club with such a fan base, history (albeit a while ago now) and potential? Strange and worrying.
One thing, perhaps the only thing, in Pearson's favour is that he shows passion for his Club. It gets him into trouble at times but I prefer that approach to the 'more thoughtful, cerebral' way the previous incumbent went about things, (except when interviewed by young ladies). However, having watched him (Pearson) over recent years he does look like an accident waiting to happen. In any case, even if the takeover falls flat we wont be short of applicants. What is putting people off at present is the thought that they could be sacked the week after being appointed.
