Other than the really notorious handful (Adams, etc.) Barkley is my least favorite player in the league. He never met a blind alley he didn't take, and that little celebration before scoring a tap in was just about as obnoxious as anything I could imagine. I have no doubt he's talented, but it doesn't extend to passing. What was the game I watched him fail to get the ball to Lukaku time after time? It seems to me he's got a knack for squandering the ball. So, yes, if he does come here, I hope I'm wrong, and that Pochettino can transform him. But I'm not inclined to take most of these rumors seriously at this point, including those about Barkley or Lemar. I hope the former is just an example of how we get linked with just about everybody, or is a negotiating ploy by somebody.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/tottenhams-georges-kevin-nkoudou-explains-10652175 Claims he was given the shirt by his 'friend' Batshuayi and he didn't realise the significance. Which explains why he played so little last year, he obviously hasn't been turning up to training at all.
Lemar? Yes please. Barkley? No thanks. He flourished under Martinez where the order of the day was 'attack, attack, attack'. Under Koeman, who demands much more graft and for every player to take defensive responsibilities, his shortcomings have been revealed. If anything, Poch demands even more graft than Ronald - which makes this signing only slightly less baffling than Sissoko. Speaking of which, if we have somehow wangled a deal whereby we do a straight swap for the player Everton were so desperate for last summer, I'm 1000% on board. What worries me most about Barkley is that his departure has been public knowledge since Koeman gave his 'monday or nothing' speech. I for one don't believe the £50m price tag rumours for one second. If so, why aren't all the big clubs clamouring to sign 'the new Gazza'? Plenty of PL experience and in the last year of his contract and yet...silence. By contrast, if we were to make it known that Alli, Eriksen or even Son were available, the sheer number of cheque books being opened at once would create a gale force wind.

He's been tapped up. The longer the buying club leave it, the lower the price goes as after this summer he's gone for nothing. This is very Levy. I would reckon that we're going to be pointing to what we paid for Victor Wanyama as a starting point for negotiations. If he was going to someone with money, they would have been making a move already. No guarantee it'll go through but I reckon Barkley sees Mauricio Pochettino as being able to improve him as a player, especially in a pre-World Cup season. If he's committed enough to turn down more money elsewhere, I'll give him a chance.
Not that I'm his biggest fan but he's a much better player than Sissoko, so I'm not completely against signing him. For me, the fee needs to be right for a start. A player with 12 months left on his deal at his age should cost no more than £30m in this market. If Sissoko can also be a make-weight to reduce the fee then happy days. If he can then consistently perform to the standard he can play on occasions, then he'll be a good signing. He's just had his best season to date so I'm hoping that's something he can begin to build on because at 23, he should be beginning to enter his best footballing years. IF he signs, it'll either turn out to be an excellent bit of business (because he learns from Poch/ studies from Dembele and reaches his potential to become a great player) or a terrible one (because he remains inconsistent and doesn't push on), I don't think he'll be in the middle where we say "ahh it weren't a bad shout".
It's a nothing story. Couldn't be less bothered if I tried and the ridiculous faux-outrage on social media from 'Spurs fans' is laughable! Get a feckin' life lads, it's only a shirt!!
Of particularly unpleasant note was one comment using the "Foreigners don't understand" line. Would they be using that line if GKN was white? Would they ****.
I can see why people weren't happy, it's petty though I agree but football can tend to irk people in some of the weirdest ways imaginable.
He doesn't deserve to be strung up or anything, but that excuse is bullshit. He didn't know the significance of the shirt? It's got Chelsea written on it, FFS!
We saw less of him than Vinnie or Sissoko. Maybe Chelsea will offer him a contract? Can't see him staying at Spurs.
GKN's definitely gone in my opinion, not because of the shirt stuff but his chances were limited last season and with Barkley and/ or Lemar potentially arriving (along with Lamela's return from injury), he won't have a hope in hell of getting game time.
It looks like we've found this summer's N'Jie/N'Koudou in the shape of Monaco's 20-year old Allan Saint-Maximin, who in spite of joining Monaco from St Etienne two years ago has yet to play a competitive match for the club, instead spending season-long loans at Hannover and Bastia - and it's worth bringing up that, back in 2010-11, he and GKN were teammates at AC Boulogne Billancourt. I guess that puts paid to the idea N'Jie/N'Koudou were signings made by Paul Mitchell & Co.
Winks hasn't really played as a 10 before though, he's always been in a deeper role. Don't think he has the attacking prowess and movement like Eriksen does. I'd say Winks is more Modric-esque, with Eriksen being like van der Vaart.
I think Julian Assange was playing up front for Boro last season. Nobody noticed he wasn't in the embassy anymore. I think he played in attack with Salman Rushdie who was also there because he thought that the jihadists would never find him.
