:mad:I have Gervinho in my Fantasy League team, will be put on the bench post haste. At what point do they start to allow you to make transfers

You can make one free transfer per week, or there's a point deduction for every transfer beyond that

Must admit would have preferred neither was banned but truth be told I stopped caring about anything to do with Arsenal after 7.30pm Saturday! Just think it would be better for us if they had their full compliment when playing our rivals (whoever that may turn out to be this season) And as I've already said I didn't think anything that happened on Saturday was particularly serious, storm in a teacup as usual when Barton is mentioned. Song got a 3 match ban.

Song deserved his ban, and should have got more IMO.

Gervinho's ban does seems excessive, but all the players know that a hand in an opponents face is a 3 match ban, so I have no sympathy for him or Arsenal.

Why would you give Song more for getting involved in a bit of gamesmanship by standing on his calf? Not dangerous and doesn't even hurt. It would seem really harsh to me. I accept why him and Gervinho have been banned but they were both powder puff incidents. This "alleged" stamp the media would have everybody and their granny believe took place, wasn't even a stamp. If it was dangerous and hurt Barton he would not have jumped straight up and ran over tot he the 4th official, and I doubt very much he'd have hugged and laughed with Song 2 mins later. They know the score, anybody does when they go onto the pitch. Oppo players will always try and wind you up by trying little things like this, Joey being targetted more than most. PL managers will be saying to their midfields and players in general, "if the chance arises try and get him sent off, it won't take much" Thankfully Barton is intelligent enough to take this on board. Shame he can't be sensible enough to give up twitter!

Being stamped like that will break someones leg, as happened to a friend of mine in a similar incident a few years ago. What's more, it was totally unnecessary.

And, as Barton said, what would the media be saying if it was him stamping on Song?

Isn't Odemwingie injured? Or at least doubtful for this week?

So Fabregas is gone, Nasri leaving, Eboue has gone, and now Gervinho and Song are banned. I think Wenger needs to start spending..

Please don't call it a stamp mate. Or at least watch it back before you do to see exactly how much force is used. None he siimpy stands on him. There was absolutely no danger of all of anyones leg being broken unless Barton is like Samuel Jacksons character out of Unbreakable. Your mate has clearly been stamped on, not stood on. Seriously stamping is an awful thing and has no place at all in the game. But if you play team football at just about any level you will get nipped, stood on, knee'd in the thigh, allsorts. Its not really right but you know it goes on. We used to play against a team in the northern alliance on a saturday. They had a kid in midfield who was not the fittest but a tremendous footballer. If you let him play, he'd kill you. Our manager said the same every season because he was a hot head "get him hit early, and wind him up" The lad knew we were going to do it, sometimes he'd keep his head, sometimes he wouldn't. Its not nice but you'll never eradicate gamesmanship from professional sport. Its human nature to seek an advantage and Song thought Joey would jump up and smash him. Hence like I say they were laughing two minutes later, and after the game. If he'd stamped on him Barton would have stayed down and probably picked up some sort of injury.

You are right though as is Barton. If it was him they'd have thrown away the key by now!

Step forward James Perch. The most versatile player on the planet and a mean cup of tea maker.

Bearing in mind his foot is on the ground, so his leg is in the air as the longest side of the triangle. Barton was lucky Song didn't properly go for it, as it would have given him a double leg break.

If he had stamped on him yes, hence he only stood on him. Song isn't the type for that kind of thing. As I say if it had been a stamp I don't think Joey, if not injured and able to get up, would have been going to see the 4th official. I think Mr Song may have got the Dabo treatment! The little hug and laugh afterwards was something I love to see. I like it when a professional sportsman acknowledges the other after a confrontation.

As I say I understand why he has been banned, you can't really let it go as with gervinho, because where do you draw the line. It just pisses me off the papers have portrayed it as a stamp and spread it round like gospel. When you've played the game it is easier to decipher what the intention of a player is in given situations (not always mind). I think this why refs and the FA struggle so much. I looked at Song and the lack of force and I immediately thought "sneaky bastard trying to get Joey riled". They looked at it and thought "violence"
