Thoughts on the appointment of VP?

    Vermaelen for Vice! Nice choice

Should be the other way round but that's pretty good.

Great, saddle your one remaining World Class Player with added responsibility!

He'll be the next to go, after Nasri that is, and this Captaincy won't be enough to keep him as the Brain Drain continues

Well your right to some extent.

However with the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey, Joel Campbell & Miyaichi in our ranks we wont miss them for long. Unfortuntaley we've turned into a selling club but the sheer volume of top class talent coming through means that we'll consistanly remain 'up-there'.

This is just 2006 all 0ver again. When the press completely dismissed us and predicted our demise.
But it did'nt happen and it wont this time - We'll finish either third or fourth.

It's a lazy selection from Wenger in my opinion. Like the Fabregas selection, he is giving RVP the captains band because he is our best player and hoping to tie him down with added responsibility so that he stays. Vermaelen seems like a natural leader to me. RVP is too volatile a character, but you never know he might calm down.

In an ideal World I'd have Vermaelen as captain and Wilshere as vice, but VP deserves it, as our most experienced player and VC for a couple of years.

  8. RVP has been extremely loyal to the club and you never see him in a disinterested mode. My personal choice would have been a calmer TV and then RVP but the other way around is good too. I certainly think RVP is better at rallying the troops than CF ever did or could.

RVP was (alongside wilshere) the heart and soul of arsenal last season.

that said, if RVP and TVs injury worries continue, this isnt the important announcement- vice vice captain is.i would recommend song or sagna.
