The timing is also right for a long frustrating summer of slowly building anxiety. I seem to be getting cynical in my old age.
Has taken me a while to translate Cyaaa into proper English. If that comment is typical of Saints fan reaction then I don't want to be a Saints fan. The sacking is bad enough without morons revelling in it. Not a good day for the Saints image.
He lost me when he said Puel played a counter attacking style. He sometimes tried it against the big boys, most notebly liverpool, but Puel just likes to slow the game down too much to be an effective counter attacker. Its just not in him.
Yeah, we were the polar opposite of a counterattacking team, with the exception of perhaps five games. Sometimes we sat really, really deep, and invited teams into our half, but that does not equate to counterattacking.
The biggest problem Puel had in his early days was a striker who was on form. Although Austin did ok imo he didn't have others who were consistently able to take advantages of situations he created. It became more obvious after Gabby was purchased what had been needed. I just hope Saints don't have an exodus like last year. So we can give the new manager a chance to build on what we have!!
Do you seriously believe that is the reaction of typical Saints fans. I highly doubt he is a Saints fan either... C'mon, get a grip The sacking isnt 'bad enough' either, we were ****ing terrible to watch in the majority of games. I'd have been happy for him to have another season, but not bothered he is gone. What exactly is Saints image? One that sells its crown jewells each summer and that has managers leave? Oh, and before this season, was largely acknowledged to play great football...
I don't care - he has zero experience and a frog in my garden has more character and charm than he does. I've never truly hated a Saints manager apart from Souness but Giggs will beat even him!
In response to earlier posts, I am aware that Claude was unhappy, if reports are to be believed. So I am asked, should the club allowed him to stay when his heart isn't in it? No, but then hanging on to him just in case the best applicant we get for the job is that frog in Helen's garden seems cynical. There will be managers clamouring to get sacked at the end of next season when we only finish 8th! Now that WHL is being demolished, do you think we could have the revolving door they once had on their manager's office?
People seem to be overlooking that this could likely have been a mutual parting had Claude found an acceptable offer already somewhere else. However, seems St Etienne wasn't for him, which is why we've now announced his sacking. He also apparently didn't like it here and had fall outs with some players - don't know exactly what some fans expect the club to have done? I don't believe we kept him 'hanging around' until we found a replacement, he was rumoured to be talking to other clubs so the more likely case is that we were hoping it would be a mutual parting.
