I am angry that this happened now. I was horrified by the pictures amd the news was and is distressing, but I have become more angry as the day has gone on.

I am angered by the fact that the action group predicted it all.

    The press are just ****s

The World At One today played audio of people screaming for help. I turned off at that point. The phrase "if it bleeds, it leads" was meant as an admonishment, not instruction. Twice, in the last then years or thereabouts, I've walked past road accidents on Oxford Street only to be horrified by the number of passers-by trying to film the incident on their phones. One time it involved a woman who had fallen under a bus and a policeman attending the scene did everything bar knock out one bastard who was literally pushing forward to get a better view. (I don't think many would have argued had he done so.) My point being, there's an eager audience for this kind of thing.

I was thinking more of the estate managers who installed the ****ty plastic cladding for the sole reason of making the buildings less of an eyesore to their wealthy neighbours. And who hadn't installed a sprinkler system. And who had recently installed a gas pipe through the centre of the building but neglected to box it in. The gas supply in most of the flats was from canisters, hence the series of explosions as the fire progressed through the building. This was an accident waiting to happen.

I have just seen that on their ten o clock bulletin.
Showing facebook live footage from people trapped screaming from the top floors.
I was expecting them to say...they escaped and wanted us to show the footage.....
But no, to my disgust they said we dont know whether these people lived or died.
How ****ing insensitive, absolute ****s Sky, overstepped the mark big style for me

I bloody well hope there's some of these media outlets brought to book over these images.
They wouldnt show people getting shot or stabbed so why show images of these poor souls.

You should see some of the stuff our media won't show. The pictures and videos from Manchester Arena and London Bridge are horrific.

I dread to think of some of those.
The emergency services must really see some sights.
Gotta give them a huge pat on the back for what they do.

I guess they won't be showing 'Towering Inferno' on the telly any time soon.

A movie famed for being OJ Simpson's debut on the silver screen..Gladly, he was not nominated for an Oscar...More like a Raspberry.

We have seen the absolute best of the police,NHS and now fire service in the last few months. Surely we need to supply these people with what they need. They actually risk there lives for us.

    Don't be daft.

The fire brigade spend all day playing ping pong, the police haven't anything better to do than prosecute poor innocent lads who knock teeth out and break people's jaws. Don't even get me started on paramedics with their demands for fair pay and decent working regulations.

    Parasites, the lot of 'em.

Not correct. It was what it was designed to be, flammable. There were other choices had they not wished that to be the case.

I agree in the main but fair play to Victoria Derbyshire today.

She was interviewing a bloke who had managed to escape with his family from the tower block.

He got very upset and emotional, as he started to show signs of distress she told him that he didn't have to say any more and tried to console the poor lad.

Some of the insensitive arse holes would have kept probing but she saw he was about to 'go' and knocked the interview on the head and hugged him.

    She was clearly upset herself.

    Showed compassion and common sense.

Memories of the last such event seem vague for most; remedial actions were few and far between. Now we have one far, far worse. Make as many as posible aware of the truth and the consequences. Do you really want another? Bugger your squeamish sensibilities, let's look at the realities of our lifestyles.

Ski mats, and the fire doors give you an hour each, so plenty of time to get everyone down.
I worked there and the plans are actually quite good.
As for the cladding I don't know

The cladding was made of Reynobond/Reynolux panels, made by a French subsidiary of Alcoa.

According to the maker's website, Reynobond are aluminium panels made out of two aluminium sheets fused onto a polyethylene (plastic) core. Reynolux is painted aluminium.

Reynobond's certified fire rating in France is "combustible - non-inflammable", according to the company's website.

The Hackney crew managed to fill the van and a local bakery made a mountain of pies, pastries etc...

It's flame retardant, rather than being completely inflammable, but it still shouldn't have burned the way it did. There are dozens of buildings clad in this stuff in the UK and hundreds (possibly thousands) worldwide. Courtesy of BBC new this morning.

They might as well have clad it in Stiff Little Fingers album's, the building regulations clearly need tightening up.
