Don't agree with this. He has had a very public shaming with Liverpool forced to publicly apologise. I would have him stripped of the captaincy and have to earn his place back. He should be made an example of now and made to made amends. To sell him now would be to write off the moral high ground the board have just earned which will be valuable in the dressing room unless we all want to continue with our best players selling themselves whenever they feel like it or the big clubs walking down the aisles at their leisure taking whatever they fancy.
Tbf this has always been on the cards, it would never have got this late in the day without him signing a new deal for him to be staying. Whether that is because we didn't offer one or he didn't want to sign one is the mystery.
This is relevant. He may have decided that first team football now is the way forward. Fair play if that's his decision and we had offered him something. The
What high moral ground from the Board - let's not dress this up much more than it is - we are an active selling club, it is our model and we will always sell off the crown jewels and re-invest in lesser known players. Im not saying I have an issue with this btw, but the Board have done so since our return to the Prem. Id be more worried if we had **** players no one wanted. Like West Brom, WHU or Stoke etc...
I'm staggered. Thought he was one being groomed for big things. Wasn't he player of the season or something at his loan club. Then again, I was ready to build a team around Simon Gillett a few years back so what do I know!!
Watching the Serbia Wales game I thought the Serbian RB was useful. Then the commentator said he was 33. ooops
Jason got Walsall player of the year and was a regular L1 player of the month. Hope we have a sell on/buy back clause in his contract?
Of course. Has to be bullshit. Otherwise we'll never get any discomfiture going, let alone a meltdown. Heaven forbid we can forget about football until sometime in August. Never mind. I hear that Oriol coughed at the wrong moment. So definitely wants away and there's nothing we can do it. Totally genuine, of course. There's nothing like a bit a bad news come summer to make a Saints fan feel at home.
Disappointing but I don't think we could have guaranteed him a lot of chances. And we've got another highly rated youngster in Valery. Best of luck to him.
So the idea would be to take the moral high ground and allow a highly influential player to potentially disrupt the dressing room and turn other players heads; so we end up with more than one player wanting out, declining performances etc. To coin a phrase; "one rotten apple in the barrel... "and all for the sake of taking the higher moral ground. Sorry, but we will have to beg to differ on this point.
Disappointing but predictable, seemed a good, versatile player with a great attitude but just never really in our plans. Hope the club got this one right, love seeing academy players feature so a shame to feel that one has slipped through our fingers.
