Just going back to the comment about England producing talented youngsters, the U20's won the cup without having access to Rashford or Tammy Abrahams, both of whom are eligible but are playing at a higher level. The talent is there

The U21 squad could be unreal!!!

These were the players not picked

    John Stones
    Luke Shaw
    Joe Gomez
    Eric Dier
    Haden
    Dele Alli
    Harry Winks
    Raheem Stirling
    Ibe
    Solanke
    Rashford
    Rolando Aarons

If we had taken a full strength U21 team to the upcoming euro's I would fancy us big time to win it.

Why have you put Aarons there? 1) he has done nothing and 2) he is a perma crock

Just had a little look at who Onomah is and landed on his wiki page. Think someone may have tampered with it

We are getting there. It's whether they can make that next step now. They need exposure to top level football to move to the next level. Whether here or abroad, but of course preferably here. To be fair Pochettino is doing his bit and Koeman seems to have a similar ethos. Man U have always been willing to chuck a few in. But you look at Southampton and Spurs over last few years and it's massively different from PL teams in recent years. Completely bucking the trend. Onomah, Winks, Dier, Walker, Rose, Kane, Alli, Trippier - it's amazing what they do when given a chance eh

I listed players who could potentially be called up, Aarons fits that bill. I got faith in the lad, he will prove all the doubters wrong.

How can he be called up if he is injured?
Also, the others have played games, he hasn't.

Never really shown any potential either

Personally I think Aarons has shown an abundance of potential. Lets be straight though, its only been very fleeting. He has pace, strength, skill and an ability to whip a lovely ball in. All that is not much use in the medical room. This is now a massive season for the kid. He must play first team football on a regular basis either at Newcastle or on loan. It is more likely to be the latter.

Anyone giving up on him is doing a total disservice to the youth system. We may as well scrap and do a Keegan if that is the case. He's just a young man. At the same time there is little point in bigging him up, saying he could be this or that. What is needed is a bit of luck with injuries and some good management. The lads confidence must be so low. You can see how hard he tries when he comes back, he overdoes it. Personally I think he would really benefit from a year abroad in Spain or Greece. A warmer climate and a chance to get some games away from the pressure here.

Few things for me; no transfers before 17 (i.e. nobody without a professional contract can, under any circumstances, be bought). Limit the amount of loans any one club can do (stop the hoovering). Introduce mandates on number of young HG players on a bench, minimum 3 in my opinion.

Frightening thing was listening to FA Tech Director Dan Ashworth - spent more time wanting to praise St George's Park than thinking about any contributing factors.

    I rate Rolando

But I find it funny how people have so much time and patience for Aarons (myself included) but then some people absolutely slate Mitrovic. Mitro is a year older and has over 90 career goals but it almost feels like every fan wants rid of him

Imagine if England had a 22 year old striker with 9 goals for England , 9-10 goals in the PL and overall 93 career goals

The closest is rashford, 10 PL goals, 1 international goal and 20 goals in total.

    How much is rashford worth?

Maybe football should adopt the same principle as Major League Baseball - once drafted (i.e. sign 1st professional contract), players must stay with that club for a minimum of 5 seasons (extends to 7 seasons if they play for 1st team within that initial 5yrs) at which point they become a free agent and can sign for whoever they like - stay with their current team or move on.

That way clubs can safely invest in their players within that initial period without the fear of losing them - potentially you can tie players for up to the age of 24 which would offer a decent return on investment
