Ah right, so now you're speaking on behalf of people you've only just met.

If you're expecting them to back up a knacker like you, over me, you'll be getting a shock son.

You're a joke on this board as you're about to find out.

I'm now off to my bed ....... tell your gran you're doing the same.

My dad was my hero....never said a bad word about anyone. The **** he took through the divorce to my mother was unbelieveable. If there was a mother thread Smug on this board I might get banned for what I would say about her....
He was born in 1927 and started work with British Rail when he was 14....worked there till he was 65...he died with Alzheimers which meant he had actually died many years before his heart stopped.
I just wanted him to be be proud of me as a human being.....I will go to my grave knowing he knew that...god bless him....choking up when I'm writing this and I'm now 60....great post.....

I'm not picking sides in the slightest and I don't intend to do so.

But... I would suggest the board has massively missed Smug and it's improved immeasurably from him coming back. Look at the threads he's starting. It's inciting discussion, on topic and off topic. Say what you like about the bloke but he's an asset on here.

Coincidentally he's the only bloke off here I've met in real life.

I lost my dad 7 years ago...he came to an alien country without a penny or an English word to his vocabulary. When he was a kid he was an orphan by the age of 16, He had no siblings either. My son was 9 when he passed away, now he's 16. I just wanted to be able to see my Dad and my lad as the young man he is today, chilling out together. He liked this kind of thing it used to fill him with pride. I wish I could have shown a bit more appreciation for his struggles and I guess I feel raising a young man in the mould of my Father, an upright man, was one of the best ways of showing this because as a few have said on here already, us men are not very good at talking sometimes about how we feel, so we show what we mean in obscure ways.

It's just a shame that 'Mr Totally Predictable' should storm onto threads throwing his toys around.

I've never seen anyone, on here, so desperate for attention ....... ffs, if everyone isn't making him the center of attention it all kicks off.

No wonder people can't be bothered to post when every thread is invaded by someone who wants to shout, swear and insult people.

Then he bleats on about the board dying and how it's everyone's fault but his <doh>

If he never posted again the board would be a much better place.

My dad was a true Gentle Man...loved his family and worked his fingers to the bone to make sure we all had a roof over our head, food on the table etc....If I could see him one more time to say a few words, I would hug him, thank him, tell him I loved him and whatever I have achieved in life is down to the influence he has had on me...

My dad is a Sri Lankan immigrant who came over to Scotland to study Civil Engineering. He met my mum in some Glasgow nightclub and the rest is history. He is a top guy though. Used to work away from home a lot as he would travel to the Philippines and the Middle East. Not seeing him was hard but I understood that it was necessary. I remember having birthdays without him and I used to really hate it (although it's nothing compared to what other people have gone through!) and he never really taught me much. Most things I had to teach myself.

All in all though he is a great dad and I don't have a bad thing to really say about him. Although he is very old fashioned and whenever we play golf he still rubs it in whenever he hits a bigger drive than me <laugh>

If, as a lot of you seem to, have something to say that you never got said, then say it out loud. I believe that the spirit survives the body and your dads will know you've said it. And somehow, you'll know he's heard it.

"I'm proud to be called your son" is what i'd say (I actually did say this to him just before he died last month) My Dad was a gentleman and did his best to provide for his family and if I ever become half the man he was then i'll have done alright.
