Won't the appeal delay the start of the ban?
The only sense behind this is if they're trying to make him available for the Liverpool game, as they either feel that it's a very important tie or that it gives them time to bring in some new players.

Gervinho should be banned for life, he's clearly a man on the edge. Imagine he snapped and nutted someone, with that forehead it could be lethal.

Does Wenger not have a brain or does he actually want Gervinho to miss an extra game? <laugh>

if he's eligable to play against the scousers then he'll miss the spurs game (assuming that the FA make the logical decision to add on a extra game for frivellous appeal), which is surely equally as important

Yeah, the FA's biased towards London clubs.
How long did Rooney get for elbowing McCarthy, again?

Why do Newcastle fans care if Gervinho gets an extra game ban? Won't help you lot.
Barton deserved to be sent off, but I couldn't care less that he is not going to get charged by the FA for his out of order actions.

Because he should have come to us <whistle> Since he decided not to everyone wants him to fail to show him the error of his ways of course.... I mean Newcastle was obviously the sensible choice. Ambitious club on the up with a sound, empathetic owner who would do anything for the club and its players, plus everyone here is French! :bandit:

I wouldn't even ban him it was so innocuous. But I think he may get the extra game as although it was innocuous, he did raise his hand and was caught. Bartons play acting is of no relevance really. I'd prefer Arsenal were at full strength against other teams, that's more helpful to us. I also wouldn't ban Song as it was just a bit of gamesmanship. The word stamp is being bandied around, it just shows how the newspapers/media can make people believe something they haven't actually seen! He stood on his calf, it doesn't even hurt unless you're a massive jessie. Its naughty and because he's been caught he's screwed but it is a very minor incident.

Even if it doesn't hurt it would still be classed as illegal obstruction.

Played a hell of lot of football actually and I've had my calfs stood on, my hands, been nipped, toes stood on, allsorts. It most certainly is gamesmanship as it is designed to wind you up not hurt you. It is far cry from actual malicious behaiour I've suffered too including studs down the achillies which is very painful (and dangerous) elbows etc. Believe me the higher you get up the ladder the worse it gets too.

This is evidenced by the fact that Joey was able to jump straight up and run over to the 4th offical to see if he had seen it. Joey continued to play the rest of game and was able to have a hug and laugh with Song not two minutes later. It is just two competitive sportsman trying to get an edge. He knew Barton was a prime candidate for a wind up and tried it on.

I'd have to suggest you have not played a lot of football if you think that would have hurt for more than a couple of seconds, 10stone or otherwise. Maybe you've only played Sunday football where its not so bad or competitive? Even then I've seen it on a Sunday. Its absolutely bloody rife on a Saturday I know that. As I say I've had it done and it doesn't hurt but is very annoying. And although I'm not one for standing on peoples legs, I've partaken in my fair share of gamesmanship and winding up of players. If you play regualrly enough you know its just part and parcel of it.

I doubt that the camp slap hurt either, but it's clearly not the point.

Warm Pouch, hats off to you, you sound like you know what you are talking about.

Standing on someone and stamping on someone is not the same thing, the impact of a stamp is far worse than standing on someone.

Barton fell down to a girl's slap, he should feel ashamed of himself.
