Absolutely. Usually people who have blind support for their favourite party in the way we support football clubs, no matter the policies, the leaders, the current political climate. I really don't understand people who are like that. And most of them don't have a ****ing clue what they're on about, taking everything they read in their favourite overly biased rag as gospel, yet they usually shout the loudest.

So why do other countries not need to have people living in poverty in order to pay for the corporations to have cheap taxes? All the other major economies seem to manage fine with higher corporation tax than us. Sweden have a great quality of life with higher prices than us because wages are high and the common man is looked after. Here it's seen as a radical idea to give everyone the absolute basics and that's incredibly sad.

I think judging by how the Tories are running their campaign, Labour will end up getting in.

That said, I also think Corbyn won't last long as PM if so.

It’s progressive taxation for a fairer society.

For such a wealthy country, we're either average or low down in so many indices it's disgraceful.

As I've said elsewhere in this thread, I'm happy to pay more tax for a fairer deal for everyone (I know this is outrage for some).

    Why?

Simply because I want my kids (and all kids) to grow up in a safer, compassionate and fairer society.

    the problem here is
the rich only benefit themselves, and get better off

and the gap between them and the poorest gets ever wider

for the wealth of the uk.. our transport infrastructure
    our education system etc

    is very ****ing poor..

    Hahaha..Falls over laughing.

Don't believe the polls.. They've been getting them way off for years. The BBC exit poll at 10pm on Thursday night will be the best poll you'll hear all week.

Toffs/lower orders - pretty much the Tory world view.

I actually went to university with a proper toff. One of his uncles was a 'smart' (as he called it rather than posh) Tory MP - back in the 90s.

He used to laugh like **** about poorer working folk who voted Tory. They all did.

**** knows what he'd think now - must be pissing himself at what people will swallow.

not sure what that means, but, hospitals in scotland are much better, cheaper living costs ie less bills, less costs, less crowding etc
but i meant the uk as a whole.

I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere, but it always seems odd when you consider everything that's exempt, zero rated, and 5% rated that it affects the poorest more than the richest. How much are they spending on other items that it makes a noticable difference?

I just looked at my own spending/finances, and because of all the exempt/zero rated/5% rated items, if VAT changed from 20% to either 17.5% or 22.5% I'd only gain or lose £1.25 a week, and that's ignoring that probably most of my food is exempt as well.
