This. As much as there is frustration right now. If we invest right and have a good summer of incoming then I will be ok. Also when is this takeover actually going to happen?
Just think you have to applaud the board for getting him in so cheap in the first case. ------------------------------------------- I might just wait to see what fee we get before congratulating the board.
And see what they do about replacements this summer as they royally ****ed it up last summer. That is easy to forgive getting it wrong now and again, not two years in succession...
Fair enough but assuming it's over 50 miller that's a hefty profit should be a good chunk more aswell. Obviously if we sell for 20 mil not so much haha
Every other team will be spending big because of the new TV deal, not because they've sold their best players. Be interesting to see if we spend more than we receive for the first time ever
And for me this is the primary concern. We are so exposed at centre back as it is. Neither Maya or Stephens are starting centre backs in my opinion: not saying they are bad but they are not quality. Every season we fail to hold onto our talent. Sickening... The club seems unable to manage players expectations. Hopefully the new owners can inject some enthusiasm into the players to stay with us.
Are you really sure? We bought for £12M (?), Celtic's sell on at £50M will be £5M, wages £7M (?) & then then we've got to reinvest @ £15M plus wages? Not that much there!
I guess it's just me that finds Klopp a bit creepy. Someone needs to give Virgil a slap in the face for choosing Liverpool over Man City. Pep as manager, the squad they have. The players they're buying. The wages they pay, the trophies they're likely to win.
Not gunna lie, if Liverpool is Virgils ambition, then I'm very disappointed. He should be aiming much higher.
So, like last summer, Klopp has announced that Virgil is his number one signing. Les, say 'no' to the first three offers & we should get something nearing fair. Not like the cash grab you did with Mane. And, by showing a little back bone, you may well find we don't get mugged too badly when Ryan follows him........
Yeah I'm not saying we should keep van dijk forever though am I? Never stated that. My point is that we have the power to keep him for one more season and should do just that.
We won't. KL sells VVD, possibly Bertrand and then sells 80% of the club for £200-210m. It's not on the new owners that they don't have all that cash to spend after they've just spent so much on buying the club.
Think it's more a symbiotic relationship. We want to profit off of them, so we're happy to bring in players knowing that they will move on.
Exactly. It's not as though sustainable growth hasn't been our business model since Markus took over. At the moment buying low and selling high is our best option for growth, while maintaining our position in the top half of the PL. When the day comes when our commercial revenue reaches a certain level, the constant turnover of players should at least slow down. Like Beefy says, we shouldn't get attached to individual players too much, because at the moment selling them is the thing that keeps the club ticking over. If the Chinese take over this may of course change, hopefully for the better, but nothing is guaranteed.
I disagree about the commercial revenue. It's mostly a red herring, unless we're talking about having commercial revenues in the range of the top six, which wouldn't happen unless we were consistently in the top six. It's a few million between us and the bigger non-elite clubs, and even that might have shrunk with our new sponsorship deals this past year.
