You play your game not the game others would like you to play. **** them we will just get on with it all in our usual calm and highly professional way. Bedwetting we leave to juveniles.
The club doesn't have to say anything. If the fans go completely doolally (or even more than usual), it has no effect on the club. We'll be told something when it is settled...the club won't sing us a lullaby before then.
Trouble is Fats............over the last 3/4 seasons we have had a succession of decent players & managers et al, leave the club. It can be argued that we didn't have a disastrous season despite this, but it didn't seem to make any difference. Each bloody year we seem to have to start again, year on year. The last time we where in the premier league (Div 1) most years we just struggled and were glad to survive. We could all look forward to the next season and hope that we were able to strengthen the squad. The clubs own stated intention of getting into Europe year on year has raised the expectations of the fans. They believe in the board and what they say. We clearly are not so ambitious as they make out going on previous seasons ins and outs. Wether that is the boards fault, the players/managers fault, or whatever. It really needs to stop. How they stop it is another matter!! All the fans can do is to wait and see what happens and to use Forums like this to express their frustrations and to offer their solutions for and against. They say Silence is golden.........In certain circumstances it is bloody hellish...........
The trouble is Beddy.... The fans have no patience. I'll say the same boring thing I keep saying and have been for years. There is NEVER a straight line graph going upwards in any walk of life. This is the first season in 8 that we have not gone forward in terms of league position and progression. This was always going to happen. It's life. I still can't understand those who don't see that these things happen and will happen. To expect continual literal progress is naive. It gets said time and time again, that we have a plan to progress sustainably. A takeover may change that. Finally, just because an organisation says what it plans to achieve, doesn't mean that it will; its a target and the journey there is neither smooth or guaranteed. Some people here tell me I'm patronising or act superior when I post views like this, but let's be honest, it's just an unemotional, common sense opinion.
The footballing giant that is Liverpool have been saying for over 20 years that they plan to win the league....
Sorry Beddy, Can't agree on this. I don't think you can label this board as not ambitious. Especially when we're about to dismiss a manager for having an "ok" season. You may not agree with the methods, but they're selling players so they can re-invest in the squad and doing the best they can in the realities of a player power world. They're doing all this whilst competing with several clubs with far greater resources. We should be proud of how far this club has come and optimistic about where it wants to go
Totally agree. Not many on here, but some fans think we will progress every single season...because we have done under the Leihberr's so far. It will never happen in any business and especially in a club whose progress has been so fast. The final step to a CL spot is far more massive than climbing from the bottom half to 6/7/8th. There are very big barriers in our way. The other annoying thing is to talk of lack of ambition....as if our failure to get into Europe this season is because of a mere lack of will. Les Reed somehow decided last summer that he wouldn't try for Europe! The club is as ambitious as it always was, but sometimes things just don't work out. I prefer to judge the club over several years...not on one season that hasn't quite worked out how we would have liked (but hardly the disaster some are imagining).
Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be great in my opinion. Young, keen, Dutch (van Dijk), has played at the highest level for a number of clubs so would have the respect of players. And from what I've seen, enthusiastic. And has just won the Eredivisie with Feyernoord.
Never say never. My first and second thoughts were noooooooooooooooo! My third thought is....mmmmmmmmmmmm?
