A day would do it if they were only considering what has happened this season....a prolonged delay suggests that Saints are considering managerial options....comparing others to Puel. So he is good enough to be our manager....but others may be better. If I was Puel, I would be the most pissed off in the land of the pissed off.
Post on St Etienne forum: Puel is 99.9% done. Should be announced by Thursday. Tuchel will replace him and Saints have already agreed with him to become manager. Whether or not it is BS remains to be seen but thought I'd post. Original on Saintsweb.
I would prefer that everyone was happy all round as I feel strongly that Puel doesn't deserve to have being ditched on his resume.
Had a flick through the forum and it does seem to have come from someone deemed ITK. Which has been later agreed with by others considered ITK.
Let's hope the rumours that announcements will be coming on Thursday so we can move on and get the squad sorted
I'm not just saying this to jump on any bandwagon either way, but for it to rumble in this long without an announcement of full support or a departure seems shoddy to me. Saints fans are rightly paranoid about another player exodus triggered by a managerial hiatus, with rumours aplenty they need to say something to stop us looking sillier.
Get the sense that everything is done save for the announcement...he's pursuing other jobs, and we're pursuing his replacement just as would be happening if he had gotten the sack. Just delaying the formality for a bit of face-saving for both parties, which is fine.
I guess.... but I think the face saving part is damaging the club.... only in a small way, but still has an effect. I think sometimes we pretend we're whiter than white and above all the politics park, and that if the club don't say anything or acknowledge it, it's like it's not happening.... a very primary school playground tactic. Whilst I know they shouldn't respond to everything in terms of gossip, changing manager is quite a big thing....
Me neither. Rushed and quick announcement, or a professional, calm approach where they have some meetings with board, key players, Puel (possibly to preagreed agendas and calendars), followed by announcement.
To be honest Harry, fans need to just calm down a bit and allow the club to do what they need to do in their time. The season ended two weeks back, no time at all really. We are just caught up in the modern whirlwind of internet and social media say-so, which makes it seem like nothing is happening.
I guess there does come a time when a delay and continued uncertainty could be worrying but I don't think we're even close to that point yet.
Agree to a certain extent, I'm trying not to get caught up in the hype, but for the fans this always seeks like the worst part of the season. There is and has been so much uncertainty and in my eyes, the club need to Bebe doing something about it. Putting the top 3 staple wood moments up on Twitter or rewarding Steven Davis's daughters swim certificate (tongue well and firmly in cheek) seems slightly cynical in the modern social media age, when most other Saints posts are about the leaked kit, the change in manager at 2 clubs and how much our best players are being touted for by their agents.... just doesn't seem to smart to let that go unchecked. If Claude is gone, if he is to be replaced by Tuchel/Ranieri/Moyes, it's another period of potential turmoil where rather than "we march on".... we start again.... again.... despite all that's gone before....
Fair enough. Personally, I think the club are right to ignore social media and rumour hype. Say something when there's something to say.
