Just imagine a coach who can teach Sako when to dribble, when to cross and which area to cross into. He would be a world beater so suppose a faster Aidy White is a good start
I did read an article a while back about Clotet turning down the chance to coach at another club whilst at Swansea with Monk but he said he didn't feel ready to make the jump. Another season and a half and a whole season at Leeds maybe he is ready now and maybe having a director of football sorting out transfers and budgets is just enough to persuade him he is ready? Maybe he is a great coach but the thought of having to make signings and sort out budgets, dealing with agents etc is too daunting for him? This could be the kind of position that would suit him perfectly, allow him to do what he does best coach and allow the director of football to bring the players in. At the end of the day for Clotet, it is exactly the same as he was doing under Monk, the only difference being he will pick the 11
Interesting comments by Wood - I say Interesting as they would echo a lot of what is going on, we sign Sacko and Clotet has jumped into second favorite to take the job when Wood states we can't be tearing down and starting again. Also good to read the use of "we" and "we must move on" no hint of unrest or wanting out... Did Clotet advise Radz to sign Sacko? 'We've got the foundations, you have to build on it,' Wood told Press Association Sport. 'We can't be tearing those down to start new ones. Hopefully the manager that does come in will build on them and bring his own style but keeping the style that we had last season. 'Of course we were hoping he (Monk) was going to stay on. 'It's unfortunate that he had his reasons after speaking with the owner - it just didn't come to the fore that he could continue. 'It's football, it's life, we've got to move on from it and look to the future and we wish him all the best.'
Interesting, coaching staff at Leeds United official page only shows Clotet? Has it ever shown Beattie as first team coach? Last season we had Clotet, Beattie, Monk, Darryl Flahavan So far we know Monk has left, if Clotet gets the job I would imagine Beattie will become his number two and we will need just one more first team coach? Or maybe Beattie will keep his job as first team coach and Clotet will bring in a number two?
morning all ... I think Orta has probably advised Radz to pass on Karanka, having seen his work first hand at Boro ... they were dreadful last season, devoid of confidence and unable to score goals ... Karanka wanted Bamford and Gestede, and was willing to sacrifice Rhodes to get them, and this may well have annoyed Orta ... seriously, Karanka's switch to longer balls was a big error, playing with a lone striker and no support ... I can guarantee you that if Karanka had been offered the Leeds job he'd be at ER right now there is clearly a lot of thought going into our next managerial appointment, and rightly so ... Monk caught everyone on the hop, and the key for me is that Radz hasn't panicked and rushed his decision ... there will be no shortage of CVs on his desk, so let's see what happens over the next week Radz may well want to keep Pep and Beattie on as backroom staff, and this will mean that whoever comes in will need to want them as well ... it may also be the case that the potential new manager wants his own support team to join with him, and their contracts also need to be negotiated ... there are a lot of variables that need to be sorted, so this is not a rush job interesting to see the Boro chairman Gibson saying that Boro will "smash the league next season and go up as champions" ... immediate pressure on whoever takes that job, and with their awful squad they can easily be fighting for twelfth spot rather than first ... they have some work to do before they can start thinking about winning the league, that's for sure PS I am very encouraged that we have signed to bright young talents to long term contracts ... Vieira and Sacko both have immense potential, and they will only get better ... so much better than the days of signing the likes of Kenny and Paynter Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Why Wolves? Good news. Now all we need is Bartley, an additional CB, a controlling CM to run the show and another forward
Everyone else is saying not interested would be the logical conclusion. if he was the first choice it would have happened last week. It's a big step up from second in command.
My question is who advised to go ahead with the signing. Orta wasn't here last season so won't have seen him on the training ground etc. So was it input from Clotet? Personally I think he will only stay if given the top job, otherwise both him and Beattie will follow Monk to his next club.
I believe most of the good stuff was probably down to Clotet, I don't believe Radz had a first choice, Monk leaving caught him on the hop so he is viewing all options. I'm pleased he is taking his time over it. Maybe he wanted Clotet but thought he had better see what others had to offer rather than take the quick easy option. I would have liked the new man in place today but as long as he is here before the transfer window opens then I'm fine with that and with the director making signings it isn't so critical although I'm not 100% comfortable with that thought but it is the way it is and the new guy will at least know that upfront. Maybe Radz assumed most coaches would be happy with a director and he is finding out the hard way, they are not and they like to do their own signings. We don't know IF anyone has turned us down, Laudrup said he isn't interested but was he approached, was he in contention, all paper talk and rumours
I would be happy with Clotet. Seems to know what he's doing. Time will tell but I'd prefer him over Karanka for sure.
Continental coaches are more than happy to work the D.O.F way so why not go for an italian or german coach. maybe it's time for Leeds to change and progress rather than trying the same old thing.
I saw that on the official site as well, just Pep as the coaching staff, that said it also still shows Bartley, Grimes and Barrow as 1st team squad though they have all returned to their parent club.
Hmmmm. Just noticed that ELM is the 1st 3 letters of Elmo. Prolly over-thinking it. Perhaps I'm scarred for life
As long as it's not May! She would have the stewards go around at half time and snatch everyone's pie from them!
Pep now 4/7 Skybet and 8/15 Paddy Power. Seems most of us on here would be willing to give him a chance and my view is why the hell not. Players would be happy with the continuity which is good and I think the fans in general would get behind him as he seems well liked. But the best part would be leaving Monk to sink or swim on his own which I must admit is rather pleasing.
