That progress doesn't represent anything that several other failures haven't achieved before you, such as Liverpool and Newcastle. You're a selling club and that 'progress' could be systematically dismantled this summer if bigger clubs want to harvest your best players.

I'm not questioning your progress but progress season on season is not linear in this league and there's absolutely nothing to suggest you're about to break the mould.

As for us, we didn't 'pin all of our hopes' on the EL to get CL qualification, we just got to a point in the season where we had to, or Jose had to decide what his priority was and he absolutely nailed it. Consistently winning trophies for the last 12 months

 

We've gained ground on you consistenly over the last few seasons. This year we caught and overtook you....

We rarely, if ever, sell our top players unless they demand a transfer. The last ones were Bale ( world record fee) and Modric. Both demanded a transfer. Both went to, and are still at, the world's top club side.
