My mate was at Wembley today. He's a happy Gooner. He's had years of watching Arsenal play pointless CL football and I'm sure he'll miss that but there's nothing like watching your team win a cup.

I may have said the same last season when Stan Jr and I went to Wembley. And this season.

We're not all like Astro who gets off on finishing 4th.

We the people are odd <cool>

    Win the FA Cup please.

Will you reminisce with your pals in 20 years about the day you finished 4th?

I am with you regarding the memories and the glory.

Having said that Arsenal have not missed the cl for nearly 20 years, and remember van gaal got sacked by the mancs for achieving exactly that last season

Nope, as a one day thing you'd take the cup final every time, but qualifying for the CL with all the money it brings is a springboard to more success.

What, the numerous probable trophies that come after the injection of CL money?

The magic of watching a stream while Liverpool clinched 4th place.

Explain that please, how many teams that have won the top 4 trophy have gone on to win "numerous" other trophy's because of said money earned?

Arsenal just won the FA Cup because of Sanchez

Now they're going to lose Sanchez because of no CL

And Liverpool won **** all because of the team and manager, it really doesn't matter if they lose any or either of.

    And so you should be.
Two years in and little sign of progress, nothing won and no sign of future wins. You were right about Klopp all the along, people may laugh but you are a football genius <ok>

It's funny cos in 2001 I don't really remember the league cup final that much but I sure as he'll remember Owen scoring in the fa cup final and I remember that goal McAllister scored to get 4th. I can also remember that slaves game and Fowler goal in particular

Perhaps only drama is memorable... perhaps the defining moment of klopp tenure was a fighting end of season and the relief of the first goal v Boro will be far more memorable than withers Manc trophies this year given how piss easy they fell.

I thought life was good when mark lawrenson stopped being a pundit ... then Danny Murphy came.

The whole 'miserable bastard, trying to be funny by taking the piss' style of punditry is taking off.

Also - if you can't see the potential long term benefits and impact of qualifying for CL, then you probably should support Everton and hope for great days out once in a blue moon.

No one is saying that we don't want to win cups - we want to compete for everything.

But for a team that has hardly been in the CL over past 10 years, getting back into it now gives us a springboard to build the squad quality and depth which will then allow us to compete on more fronts.

Now merely qualifying for the CL and not getting very far is pointless, but it's still a necessity. If we continue to qualify for the CL consistently over next 2-3 years, then getting top 4 will become more of an minimum expectation rather than achievement, which it was this season.

Exactly the same as 2001..... that year we won 3 cup but the 4th place was still considered significant to us.
