Is that really your best reply to the points raised?

You're lying about my reasons for the other exchange too (you probably know which page the punishment for that sin is on). I was open minded at the time, but after considering your replies, it left me thinking it was largely a load of old pony.

EDIT. I gave an answer to your question on chance, I even elaborated and guessed why you asked. Like the other points raised, you've chosen burbling and gibberish rather than discussing them.

I can't say I've spent much time studying gibberish to get a true grasp of it. I see you're accomplished, so I'll watch and learn, as you're clearly going to demonstrate it instead of actually responding to the points raised.

That's crux of most people's argument we came by chance, everything has an cause and affect and something had to have existed before the nothing as something doesn't come from nothing...

Same way every part of your body has an reason or function, what's your reason or function, not you per se but in general.

you are one of those that keep jumping as soon as you get caught out on one and then you jump but what about this and this and this, never really there to understand or deal with the subject matter!

You'll not be getting in to your heaven if you keep on lying like this. Still, you can always repent on your death bed.

It's clear you're just going to demonstrate your skills in gibberish, and try to ignore addressing the points I raised or my responses to your questions, so anyone not bored to tears by you can draw their own conclusions.

It's all very interesting but answer me this my friend... for thousands of years before Europeans landed in the Americas, native Americans had their own creation myths that had nothing to do with Christianity or Islam or any events that took place in what is now referred to as the 'middle east' ... they also had an oral tradition that was passed down by generation to generation with no need for any form of holy book ... how is it that they had no concept of the bible or the Quran if those two written works are really the accurate recounting of the words of 'the creator' ? ... would 'God' really have left a continent of millions of people completely oblivious to his thoughts and teachings?

Don't misunderstand me ... I'm open to the possibility that God might exist ...what I'm sceptical about is whether a being of such omnipotence would really have a preferred 'sect' of worshippers on this earth when clearly it has created the whole fookin' mad house in the first place if it truly exists?

What, so you can't believe in both evolution and an underlying creative intelligence? Why not?

You can believe that to be true.

The version of it offered by main stream religion doesn't stand up to scrutiny though, so it would need to be defined and described in some other way.

It's relatively easy to pick holes in the details of religious teachings, certainly. Especially if you choose to take all religious texts literally.

But the unifying principle of all religion - that we are all expressions of the will of a loving creator - is something you either believe or you don't.

That's the thing about faith - to those without it, no explanation is possible. To those with it, no explanation is necessary.

I agree. ...but also that a 'loving creator' would never demand violent deaths for his creations in his name ...:)

You can have faith in the principle, and even without it, an explanation should be possible, but the details in the versions of most main stream religions mean that it is readily falsifiable. Faith alone is not a good argument for following those versions, and they certainly seem to feel that an explanation is necessary, hence their instruction books.

We can believe what we choose to believe. What we can expect to be judged on - in this world and perhaps the next - are our actions.

You can, but that's not what the BIble says and therefore not what Christians are taught is what happened.

    Really?

Do you think most - or even many - Christians take every word of the old testament as the literal truth? I can honestly say that I have only ever met one Christian who claimed the universe was created in 7 days. Not surprisingly, he was from Iowa.

The first four verses of genesis, culminating in the words "God said let there be light. And there was light", can easily be read as a description of or metaphor for the big bang.

As I've said, and Archers put rather eloquently this morning, it's a matter of faith.

You either believe or you don't.

It's a fact that the Earth existed millions of years before man appeared so any with an ounce of common would be forced to admit that Genesis was therefore bollocks. So many Christians choose instead to take their own interpretation of what it 'really' meant, in order to keep hold of the idea of creationism.
