I'm not bothered how our spending compares to others personally as different teams require different levels of investment so I don't look at it that way. Looking at the squad it needed way way more than what was spent imo. Apart form the Keeper position can you honestly say there was a single position which didn't need significant investment due to a lack of quality and/or depth? Not defending Moyes but the whole thing is shambles, all of it our downfall. Hope he quits so we don't have to pay him off. But the state of us means fans are going to have to be patient with who ever comes in no matter how bad we get. We can't fix our mess and pile investment into the playing squad. I'm worried the next manager is destined for failure too as I don't believe our problems will disappear with Moyes.
I find it even harder to think it will disappear with Moyes. Sadly, Short is more or less stuck with him, and so are we.
True, but the same sentiments were handed out to Spragia, Bruce, MoN, PDC and Poyet, Patience was also being lost with Dick and probably would have been a load of heat on Sam, Given that MoN, Poyet, PDC and Dick all delivered impressive survivals then left after relegation form, there's no guarantees Sam would have fared any better in his second season given how inadequate the budget was(He's not perfect, he's struggled with teams before like the majority of managers). I'd love Moyes gone, but at some point we've got to be prepared to not only back a struggling manager, but actually support him. Because we've got a rocky road ahead, and we'll never ever pull off a rebuild burning through a manager a season. At some point we're going to suck it up and back somebody through hard times. When everything he tries doesn't seem to work, we need to back him. If us armchair managers think we see something he doesn't, we need to back him. When we can't buy a win, we need to back him. Fruit is rarely produced in a plant's first year after all. Somebody need to be given a proper crack of the whip. Hope it's not Moyes I really don't but if it is him. I'm reluctantly giving him the chance.
Fancy Nigel Clough to rebuild the team to get us up to stay in the Premier - but don't think we'll get him .... Hope its not another failed manager like Pearson or Kawanker or McClaren - noooo .
Thank ****, now for the next bloke to get it in the neck. Pearson for me and must be given a couple of years
Pearson is a good shout, a tough customer, with a bit of fight in him, and a man who knows the division and what's needed to get out of it, he would do for me.
How is Pearson a failed manager? Both Pearson and Karanka have got teams promoted in the last 4 seasons and know the league inside out. If your using Derby as a stick to beat Pearson with just take one look at Paul Clement
I mean both were unceremoniously sacked for doing decent jobs I am not a great Pearson fan - others are. Just feel we need a manager with knowledge of NE culture and passion -Boro is not typical at all where Pearson played. But whoever is appointed will have my backing - I'm not small minded to throw my dummy out and winge. Sick of starting seasons with virtually new squads mind
