Agreed. We seem to have this attitude where we try things for half an hour and then just give up. Bertrand and Redmond are prime examples. They tear teams apart and then sort of just stop. Maybe they become disillusioned with the lack of a finisher to provide for?

Yes it's been a disappointing end to the season but to all those who have abused OUR team and OUR manager today I suggest you **** off and give your type of support to Spurs or Chelsea next year. You'll be much happier and so will the real Saints fans

I found the crowds response to Puel embarrassing and actually sat down when he brought on his substitutes.
The "You don't know what you're doing" song was being blasted out by large numbers in the Kingsland corner followed by insesant booing and abuse being hurled at Boufal was unacceptable for me.
I can see Boufal looking for a way out of St Mary's ASAP.

Yes, how dare you spend hundreds of pounds and probably years of your life following the team! How dare you exercise freedom of speech!

A bloke on the internet has shown you up for what you are. Well done SaintinSerbia, if only we had a million fans like you every week on the internet. What a wonderful world it would be.

Agreed. Man next to me on the Northam simply commented "bankers". Not sure why, but next time he comes I'll check my hearing aids are turned up.

What is the point of spending your own money and moaning the whole time over something you have no control over? Spending your money in the wrong place if you're looking for that...

Spending hundreds of pounds doesn't excuse people for acting like tw*ts. You can want Puel sacked, that's fair enough, but the chanting and booing is unwarranted and rude. Even if you want him gone, its clear he hasn't done an awful job and it's been difficult for various reasons. No need for that crap today and it was really annoying to see a decent man that has done a decent job and took us to wembley treated like crap.

Fans don't moan the whole time. Football is a release, be it positive or negative. The moaning about the moaning is worse than the moaning itself.

Disappointing? Disappointing? I'll give you ****ing disappointing. How about 1965 when we ****ed up promotion? Or 1974 when we were relegated? Let's throw in some more recent ones. 2005 was laugh. 2009 when we slipped into Division One with the prospect of a ten point penalty as the best possible case was an absolute hoot. God how I laughed at the prospect we could go out of business.

It hasn't been great this year. We've been bleeding awful at times. But somehow we've finished 8th and been to Wembley. We've uncovered some real talent, while some of our top players have been in the treatment room - hope ours is huge given the numbers involved. But here we are. End of the season. Still got a club that is viable. It's one of the top ten in England, and we'll move on.

Yes, those who want to scream abuse at Saints players and the Saints manager, go glory hunt, you prats. Supporting Southampton is for (painful) life.

"You don't know what you're doing" Vicious, cut him to the bone. I can't recall 20,000 people singing "You're a c**t".

Why didn't you start chanting "We love you Puel, we do" ???? I can't remember hearing that. So perhaps you are at fault for not backing the manager vocally.

I could, if I wished, spent hundreds of pounds watching opera or ballet, or take up membership at the Swan Theatre in Stratford On Avon. I could, because I had spent those hundreds of pounds, be justified in getting to my feet during the climactic moments and singing "You don't know what you're doing" at the performers if I didn't think they were up to my exacting standards. I would be fully justified in this because I had spent hundreds of pounds on my seat and only what I think matters, and **** everyone else.

Our new premier league plastic fans are embarrassing and should remember where we came from.

Disgraceful. It hasn't been great, but booing our own players etc. makes me really ****ing angry.

The biggest sympathy that I have for Claude Puel, is that he's done EVERYTHING that Les Reed has asked of him, yet his "boss" failed to back his own appointment.

So, Les doesn't like a manager who stands up to him and he seemingly doesn't like a manager who is a yes man. So god knows who we will get next. Good luck to him.

Guess what? there's freedom of speech and there's abuse. They're not actually the same. Only 30,000 people can actually go and watch the games. You're lucky you can. Us internet supporters don't count, tell Man Utd that! so it's all just for you and you don't even want to go

It's bloody football ! Not the village green cricket rah rah jolly good old boys back slapping brigade. I've never heard anything from the terraces to match the abuse I've heard in changing rooms between players and managers.

Yeah, but on the other hand what else is he going to say? "My strikers suck?"

It's possible Puel was happy with who we had and told the club not to add anyone. But it's also possible Puel knew we weren't going to add anyone or had no assurances we would in which case the smart thing as a new manager is to not immediately call your new bosses cheap and insult the players who you will need to work with next season. So I don't think you can read too much into Puel's statement one way or the other.

Sorry I do not buy this at all. Koeman was Dutch and never faced hostility. If Saints fans were genuinely anti-foreigner, the one manager they would have roasted was the Argentine, Pochettino. Both managers were extremely popular. Similarly, there was not hostility towards Strachan or Burley because they were Scottish. Had Puel's appointment been a success, the fans would have got behind him too. I have not heard any chants / comments regarding Puel's nationality where I sit in the Chapel and I don't really think most supporters are too fussed about the nationality of their manager as long as the results and style of football are good. The same applies to his assistant Black too. The same applies to his assistant Black too.

The one nationality of coach that I would be hostile to would be American and that is simply because I do not think they are a mature, football nation and as the appointment of Bradley has shown at Swansea, the US is not ready to produce a coach good enough for the Premiership. It is quite interesting to see that the preferred options these days with foreign appointments are all ex Spanish, Italian and German leagues. The Dutch league also seems like a good stepping stone in higher things whereas it is only recently that French coaches like Zidane are getting the better appointments. It Puel's "French-ness" is open to criticism to any degree, it is merely because he has comes from managing teams like Lille and Nice who are probably akin to our Championship side. I think his tenure at Monaco was pre-Russian investment and his time at Lyon culminated in the same dissatisfaction as has been apparent at St. Mary's this season. Most of the supporters I sit next to or work with are all critical of the boring style of football. Amongst them, I think it should be pointed out, I have only encountered one person who thinks Puel deserves another season. I am not aware of other people booing him or demonstrating hostility but there seems to be a consensus amongst the Saints supporters I know that he is simply not good enough.
