Tom Cairney. Newcastle, Saints and spam. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sp...ney_deal___and_also_interested_in_Aaron_Mooy/
Semedo & VVD would be good? http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-leading-race-sign-defender-everton-stoke-well/
Financial Fair Play can put the breaks on wholesale large salary increases for clubs with low commercial revenue such as ourselves and Bournemouth. So if Bournemouth want to pay 100k+ for Defoe it's likely he'll end up being a significantly higher earner than the majority of his team mates. Which could potentially disrupte squad harmony
You're right..3 points for a goal and one for a point...Watch it on sky sports when there's not a lot else on this summer, you'll thoroughly enjoy it!
Keegan had ****ed off to Newcastle by then. I presume the money saved from paying him, went to Shilts. Shame as I believe it was Lawrie's dream scenario to have them both play at the same time.
Big line in the sand drawn by Ralph saying the club would turn down offers of $60 million to VVD. Liverpool and Everton can run off and leave the big boys to play
VVD will go to Chelsea or Man City, well out of Liverpool and Evertons reach. Whether that's at the end of this season or next remains to be seen.
I must be getting old. I thought Keegan went because Shilts came in on more money. We'd have won the league if they'd been paired up.
You may be right FLT....quote from wiki on Shilton... "Shilton left Forest for Southampton, where his former international teammates Keegan and Alan Ball were both playing."
I'm always right. Until someone proves otherwise and then my original point must have been misunderstood.
Wiki is wrong on that entry. Correct though on Keegan's, where it states that Kevin left Saints for Newcastle a few days before the 1982-83 season started, partly because of a charge by McMenemy that the team had cheated in a 3-0 loss to Palace the preceding season, in a disappointing run that saw Saints drop from topping the division. We bought Keegan for £420,000 in 1980, and sold him to Newcastle for £100,000.
