I can guarantee that if we sign Kelechi Iheanacho, Seven Nation Army will be used to sing his name. Even then it would be worth it, outstanding player.

Probabaly less than Long and Jay combined. Sell those 2 and bring him in alongside Gallagher.

We would still have 4 strikers, only cost us a few million and we'd also have a huge increase in quality. Good plan.

Hope Reading beat Huddersfield in the playoff final and that's his move sorted. £12m, job done.

I know not technically saints transfers but rumours on the BBC about bournemouth and Palace both ofering out contracts over 100k a week?!?! Unbelievable it makes all the more impressive every season we manage to keep doing well without paying those sorts of wages. Does anyone know what our top earner is on?

Football clubs paying a player £5m a season when the club is receiving on average £150m a season from TV alone, isn't that remarkable anymore.

Depending on whether you believe what the papers say, one of the tabloids did assess player's wages, club by club. Our top earners are getting closer to £100K a week. I think Virgil, Charlie etc... are all on the top level. Somewhere around £80K-£85K. From memory, Jose was on £60K. That didn't sit well with him apparently.
But don't shoot the messenger. It was merely something I've read during this season.

It's just an even bigger risk though. If you spend that money and avoid relegation it was worth it. If you spend it and go down you are in all sorts of trouble financially.

Unless you sell that player. I know we don't do that sort of thing, but it's an option. Plus, you go down now with a guaranteed £80m (I think), so there is cushioning.

But a lot of players will refuse to leave if they have to take a pay cut. It is certainly a risky strategy.

Think everything involved in football is risk. A £100k a week salary will soon be regarded in the same way a £50k salary was 10 years ago. People freaked when they heard that Shilton was getting £1k a week in 1982

When was the last time a team got in player-wage-related financial difficulty after relegation from the Premier League?

I think our wage bill last season was around £85 million, so I'd imagine quite a few are on a fair amount considering the new contracts last Summer.

The goal area is actually smaller!!He was a hurler so the size of the ball(sliotar) is much smaller so it should be easier in essence!!!

Ah, okay. But if you sky it over the crossbar in Gaelic football, don't you still get points if it's between the posts? Or is that something else, Aussie rules maybe?

Apparently West Ham and Everton are also interested in Iheanacho. I'm not surprised, if he is available there will be a host of sides after him. Shouldn't think we will be willing to compete financially for his signature.
