True but its been a while since we had a manager that didn't have his name sung in matches. I'm in the 'keep him' camp. I've not been won over by the style of football this season but I can see a plan coming together. He needs another season to make his mark and a couple of quality signings in the summer (e.g. the wizard who plays just behind the front line mainly and causes havoc whenever he has the ball at his feet). I do like how he dips into the academy. As for tomorrow (and Stoke), I think Tadic and Boufal have to step up these last couple of games. The skill is there. We just need to see it executed consistently. Would like to see Charlie Austin play alongside Gabbi but Redmond seems to be the man of the moment so difficult to leave him out. Sneaky feeling we can pull this off. 2-1.
With the weather forecast in mind, they won't have to water the pitch tomorrow, Sou-westers and wellies are the order of the day
So lose tomorrow 1-0 & we drop to 9th. Lose 2-1 & we stay 8th on alphabetical order! Is that really right? What happens in that situation on Sunday?
As finishing in 8th will not provide any European adventures next year, the only benefit (albeit a large one) is the difference in TV money between 8th and 9th. Why not simply halve the total prize money for 8th position plus 9th position, then give us and WBA equal amounts of money? Alternatively, do the head-to-head results count? Or, an arm wrestle between the owners - Best of three should make it fair
A Utd supporting friend told me that their kit sponsors (addidas) have it in the contract that if Utd fail to get into The Champions League, Addidas get a 50 % discount amounting to somewhere near 150 million pounds. Its probably why the Utd players are on a 2 million per player bonus to win the final
The match days keep on coming. It's best that way. Mourinho may rest key players and prioritise next (?) Wednesday, but the guy likes winning so they won't lay down Nevertheless, I think we'll win today. I have a new pair of lucky red and white socks, a present from ma petite ami Francaise, who hates football and has to force herself to say through gritted teeth "enjoy the match". I threw away my last pair of lucky socks after Coventry 5 years ago, bout time I had a new pair. Up the Saints, vive la France, & oh Gabbiadiniiiiii!!!!!.
As a result of Arsenal's win yesterday, Man Utd now have absolutely nothing to play for, in terms of league position (aka money, but probably only chickenfeed in comparison to their other income streams). Arsenal are now on 72 points, 7 ahead of Man Utd, and United have two games left, including tonight's game vs Saints So the highest points tally they can get is 71. In a similar vein, Everton are 4 points below Man Utd, with one game left. So, United can't go up, or be caught. With their Europa League final coming up, there is obviously no reason to risk any first choice players in a match that will be meaningless to United, so they may as well have a starting Man Utd XI of second and third teamers. Now, if only Jose has a Not606 account...
