No idea, I deleted my account and stopped reading the comments years ago, you're better off debating things with a potato.
I often read the comments - mainly just for cheap laughs. But I do think there is more sinister work at play, possibly other 'agendas' from the paper or another body the paper won't block. There's a few possible sock puppets on there with right wing views who gain unfeasible scores on the 'thumbs up/thumbs down'. As you point out, these hardly ever get removed, almost as if the paper, or someone at the paper, supports it.
A genuine philanthropist will give and not crave the publicity for doing so. That man gives money but insists that his name goes alongside it. The Allam this and the Allam that. All it is is food for his ego.
Bit of a conundrum. As you say, he wouldn't want it coming from HCC. But it'd be an award; an honour. Something he supposedly yearns after. He brags about having met the Queen and was knocked back upon meeting a City fan and learning that the fan had done the same.
Freeman of Melton might be more appropriate seeing as he was supposedly looking to take City out of Hull.
There are the odd erudite, intelligent ones. They tend to be the ones whose views coincide with mine.
The Hull City Council should give it to him. Just so he can become an even bigger **** by rejecting it.
And insist he does an open top bus tour and waves to the cheering crowds from the balcony after the award.
The **** would accept it but then tell everyone that he is a freeman of the town Hull, as it's been called Kingstown for years and everyone knows shorter is better.
Only comment I had removed was one asking when they had won an award you have to ask what the papers which came 2nd, 3rd and fourth were like.
