Indeed. It would also be very unusual for that to happen with a football manager. I can see how news about transfers (or even takeovers) gets out to people in the club but I'm a little more sceptical about this sort of decision. I'm sure people at the club have opinions and they may well know more about player opinions, dressing room atmosphere etc but unless Les or someone has been blabbing in the staff canteen I don't see how they'd know Puel was going to be sacked.
Oh sorry Rudolf Hoss! My bad, I spelt a word wrong, off to the gas chambers I go! Some of you have to much time on your hands it's actually sad...
I have supported Saints man and boy since the mid 70's and I can hand on heart say that every manager has brought me joy. Some when they arrived and some when they left
Well I'm going to say thank you Claude for giving Me a day out at Wembley watching My team challenging for a trophy. Sadly the best team lost that day. I wonder if there would be as much speculation about His future if We had won. At the end of the day the Manager can only work with the tools He has. Can you really blame Him if Redmond and Long can't shoot straight, or That VVD and Austin were injured. If Mane was still in the team we would have won more games than we did, but I'm sure it wasn't Claude's decision to sell him. Finishing behind Chelsea, Spurs,Man City,Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd is hardly failing and probably by most fans expected. Just looking at the table shows how close it has been between the teams. For a first season in charge and all things considered with injuries and sales of key players I personally think He's done okay and deserves another season.
I see very little point in ditching a manager who has done rather well with limited resources. Very few managers would have done better, imo. What we need is to stop the exodus every season. That might be taken care of by the takeover. Then, somewhere down the line, perhaps a new manager might be appropriate. But get the exit door closed and then we'll see.
Are we going to have another meltdown, like the last few years when/if "speculation" turns out to be true again? Some seem to want to not believe anything apart from the stuff the club spews out.
There won't be a meltdown from me but at the moment we don't know what is going on so why get stressed? The manager and players may or may not leave. What is new? A new owner now that is something different and I'm hoping we will be lucky again and get a good one. Only time will tell with that one.
I don't think anyone is denying that the rumours could be true Beef, they are just offering their opinion as to why it wouldn't be a fair decision to sack Puel at this time. If Puel wants out then that is his right, but I really don't think that he should be pushed, other than there being some serious disharmony in the dressing room.
We have had it the past few years though. It just seems people don't want to believe the info going about. I am still not saying 100% he will be gone, but all the stuff heard by journo's and other people close to the club all adds up.
You sound like the type who usually ends up getting their head smashed in on a night out trying to be clever c*nt.
I can't help being a clever c**t, it's in my nature. And I don't suppose you can help being a trappy little spanner, so we'll leave it at that shall we?
I will accept if if it turns out to be true and will support the club as ever, but I think that it's a gamble that we don't have to take at this time, Puel has proved to be a safe pair of hands and good at bringing young players through, no guarantee that the next man will be as good. I can remember Chris Nicholl, another underappreciated manager, being sacked and we ended up with Ian Branfoot!.
