He's got a lot right in the past. The info also adds to the stuff the press are saying. Plus the stuff I posted in here. It all adds up sadly, like you I would want Puel to get a second season.

He also stuck his neck out on the kit design. Assuming he's right, that'd be a pretty major mark in his favour.

If we are to go down this route then I really hope it's done quickly. Give the new guy the entire pre-season, have the players know who will be the manager before they go on their holidays.

Well it's football fans opinions for starters. Not the first group of people I'd trust for a strong and stable opinion [sorry]. Then it's the Facebook Few from those football fans. Really, does anyone need to say more.? If they were that bothered they could get up a Puel Out petition. Easily enough done. I wouldn't sign it.

Mind you, I have to say that things can't be all that rosy when CBK comes back and posts. He's our barometer. Probably more reliable too.

Talked to a girl that helps run the Saints foundation. She has heard Puel is off as well.

Unfortuntely a large portion of the fan base will be popping open the champagne gleefully if this separation doesn't happen. Funnily these will be the same people who were happy with 12th place at the start of the season.

For me he will go with my thanks and a thought of a what might have been.

Still a sign of a progression though if we are parting ways with a manager that potentially will get us 8th place.

Would it sound weird if I said that I'd prefer it not to be Ranieri. I mean, I really like the guy, he's lovely, and he worked a miracle in that season with Leicester, of course. But I.....well.....I'm still not convinced by him.

Yep. If it's going to be happen, then potentially even do it within 24 hours of the Stoke game ending. And then get the replacement in within a matter of days, ideally.

Heart would be delighted, but my head says no. I don't feel wonderful thinking that either.

Well I don't want it to be Silva, so we could have a bit of a tricky problem here.

With you. Largely because I wish that Ranieri had walked off into the sunset before Leicester having to sack him, and wouldn't want to have to give him the boot if it didn't work out. He's not a young man, and he's not going to be a long-termer...insofar as long-term managers are a thing that happens.

That said, stylistically, the Leicester model makes an awful lot of sense for us. We've had success with a high-energy press before; add a ranging midfielder alongside Romeu, and we have a lot of pace in attack, and players who might have a better shot of finishing in open space.

I can see the appeal of Silva, but I'd want a manager who is capable of winning things. Mind you, it means absolutely sod all if you sell your best strike force and don't replace them.

In the way that Silva won the Portuguese version of the Championship with Estoril, the Portuguese Cup with Sporting (their first silverware since 2008) and the Greek league with Olympiacos you mean?

    That kind of winning?

Won the Greek league (which, as manager of Olympiacos, you'd expect him to do), and won Sporting's only trophy of the past decade.

Edit: LTL beat me. Should note that Silva has also only been fired once, and it was under insane circumstances (or 'business as usual' as it's known at Sporting). They issued a 400 page report of wrongdoing that led them to sack him with cause, citing such things as him failing to wear the team's official suit for a cup match, failing to attend a meeting that Silva said had been called off, and taking part in a conspiracy against the club's president. He won the ensuing defamation suit.

There you go, I'm showing ignorance due to my 'don't give a toss' attitude about the outside football world.
I did say I could see the appeal of Silva. However, I'd ideally like a manager from a more competitive league and one who had a winning CV.

Hey, if it turned out to be Silva I wouldn't overly mind, I suppose. I think I'd like someone a little more exciting though. On the whole I think I'd prefer Puel to stay but I'm not 100% against him leaving either. We are a bit ordinary, and I don't lay the blame at his door for much of it. But, as Fran has repeatedly observed this season, he's not the most charismatic of managers. However, this exit door strategy every season has got to come to an end. That starts with the manager. So if Puel isn't right, get the right one in, back him properly with [Chinese] finances, and nobody else is to come or go unless we say so.
