Taken from facebook... "United by cancer, divided by leagues" The banner is set to fly over at 3.10pm on Sat. Newcastle United fan Darren Curry, came up with the idea: "We didn't start out with the idea of doing anything to do with charity but that was suggested and it just snowballed from there" To donate towards the fund-raising go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/darren-curry?utm_id=106&utm_term=BmbbYWwKV
I would do it at 3.02pm. Bit of a risk leaving it as late as that - some may not see it. To be honest though would rather see the cost of the fly-by be added to the fund.
I was never keen on the banner anyway. It was cringey when they did it, so you hoped we wouldn't follow suit. Give the lot to me, I mean charity.
I agree it's cringey, but without the publicity of the banner less overall would have been raised (most likely). So console yourselves with that I guess.
A charity banner all about cancer - Excellent idea. A charity banner mocking SAFC - Silly but fair enough A charity banner about both - leaves a nasty taste in my mouth for some reason.
This. It's like using the charity message as a means of having a sly dig that should then be applauded by all as a great thing. I don't like it. If it's about the charity the leave it at that. If it just had the first line it might well attract more donations which would make it justifiable. Adding the second line belittles the whole thing entirely . In any case it would silently send an even stronger message to the prats from last year if we just focused on the United by charity message. Right thing to say and they will just look silly for their antics. The proposed banner makes us just as bad.
Aye, a banner focusing on a cancer message only would make a mockery of our stupid banner last year and make sure that it will never happen again.
I like the idea of the banner and I'm glad funds are being raised for charity too as it's a very worthy cause. I think there has to be a banner, a bit of banter a dig at our rivals. I would have gone with the message "Fiddle Taxes, Not Kids" or "You're going down like the AJ"
I agree 100%. It doesn't sit right with me that this is being done in the name of having a pop at Sunderland. I think the vast majority of fans won't be happy about this being done in their name in this way. To be fair, some of your lot weren't happy about the banner last year either.
Agree 100%. Separate yes. But linked.. feels wrong IMHO. Easier to do nothing and hand the dosh to Bradley and Frankie.
