    My favourite footballs were Mitre:

    Multiplex
    Delta (Red)

    Also liked Adidas Tango.

**** knows what they use now.

Yet my lad got some Gola trainers when he played a lot of 5 a sides, he went for comfort not fashion even though I was paying and liked those the best after trying a lot of different ones on, and they lasted longer than any others he had costing far more despite getting a lot of use.I seem to recall he had some Gola boots which lasted longer than others.

A lot of the more fashionable ones were made by other companies and all the trendy ones did was stick their label on and up the price.

I know 2 people with Octavias and 1 with a Superb. One of the Octavia owners is a taxi driver but the other two could afford more expensive cars but swear by their Skodas for value and reliability. Someone I know with a Yeti says it is a good vehicle as well.

It is true. Lots of things are just cheaper stuff with a label on. I think it was Mitre that made a lot of stuff that others put their label on.

There are some gullible people as far as fashion goes. Having said that back in the 1960s you were swayed by Levis and Wranglers but their quality was far superior to the jeans we had worn up to then. Got a pair of Lee Riders in Birmingham in 1968 which cost quite a bit more than Levis. Was still wearing them when we played Man U in 1974. Unfortunately years of drinking caught up and I grew out of them before they wore out although by then they were more white than denim coloured.

Father in law is well heeled and drives a Skoda. He's just not interested in making a statement with the car he drives.

A Skoda is all VW/Audi parts anyway. I had an Octavia vRS Estate Car about 10 years ago - Was alright and top spec too. I'm really not that fussed about cars. As long as it's a VW or Audi I'm happy with it.

My lads always got what they wanted. As I said eldest one bought trainers and boots for playing football for comfort rather than fashion.
Seeing City man's mention of Mitre made me think one of his favourite, long lasting boots were Mitre.

First pair of boots I had were Gola Goalmaster. Scored loads with em.
Had a pair of red shorts with two stripes down the side from Boyeszz. Had em first year of junior school still fit me when I was in the last year four years later!!
