If it were me I wouldn't sell even for 60-70m. Happy enough to sign a 6 year deal, can honour a 3rd of that.
You don't have to pay out the remaining wages, just any remaining bonuses. Yes, the notion of paying out loyalty bonuses for a player you just sold is a tad silly. And we could easily make VVD honour more of his contract, but that probably wasn't the intent of the contract. Rather, it's there to keep him happy this season, and enhance our leverage when we sell him this summer.
Nothing but good news coming out at the moment. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-chelsea-eye-ryan-bertrand-10348258N

Its a sign of our continuing progression we now sell our best players to the league leaders. When we sell our best to Barcelona you will know that we have truly succeeded.
Think a few of their players have now missed the boat? Not many takers with the wages they splashed around last summer.
I thought they "only" pay up to £100k pw which is small change for many of the premiership teams especially the top seven
Surely if Bertrand were to leave, his first choice would be Chelsea? Hasn't he just received planning permission to build a gym, in his Surrey home?
I didn't know Bertrand still lived near Chelsea until this thread. Does he have a house here? Or does he commute every day - which would be a bit of a pain surely?
