Well in rugby you have 15 players so 1 less for 10 mins leaves you down 6% of the team, football 1 down leaves you nearly 10% of your team down.

Again, keeper is specialist position that you don't have in rugby. What happens if keeper is sin binned? If can't sub out it's almost better than a red card!

Looking into it more, this plan is total BS. The only thing that changes is when a player is booked for dissent they now sit off for 10 minutes instead of paying a fine.

That's a lie. Lucas, Can and even Hendo will make a challenge to take man out (if they were close). Same with milner and clyne. Seen it many times

I disagree there. It would actually bring the fear of not talking to the ref like **** or over crowding. Imagine 4/5 players screaming at him and they all had to go off? Would immediately change there attitude.

Would work wonders in South American football. The discipline there is so poor that any decision they don't agree with you have 22 players surround the ref and fighting. When your dropping 8/9 yellows in a match then you know the ref has lost the match.

They could have an exemption for keepers, I suppose. But the whole thing is just a stupid idea, and like most stupid ideas you have to make more and more changes to make it work until you've made the thing unrecognisable.
Some people just can't keep their hands off something that works well enough and just **** it up trying to "improve" it.

What's wrong with a yellow card under those circumstances? That's what's supposed to happen, and if it was they'd soon stop.
Like I said earlier, properly implement the current rules before you go looking to change them.

    Exactly.

The rules are already there and crystal clear, the issue is that the referees don't enforce them. If they told every club that dissent would get a card end of, and then enforced it, it goes away.

Sin bins reminds me of egg chasing and thus wools, so I'm out.

Yellow card sometimes doesn't fit the punishment though which is why sin bin would stop them from doing it.

Presumably another player takes the gloves for the duration of the binning?

surely the easy cure for this is mike the ref and have him explain the issue then fine the **** out of players caught on mike.. every single week til they stop.

ie. weeks wages per incident..... thats stop it quick.

the sin bin is ideal to punish things yellow cards are silly ofr.

kicking ball away.. nobody would again IMO. its a huge punishment for that stupid thing

take **** off.. again why a yellow. its stupid

    etc etc

I would agree on south america or spain..

Hey...they are trialing it...if all the problems stated here arise then it won't be introduced fully.

    If it works, they will.

Personally...if you are going to do it..it should replace the yellow card altogether. That way ref more likely to produce them twice rather than being scared to produce a second yellow for red.

Also means on that side that a team isn't down to 10 for 80 minutes which ruins a game. Unless they are dirty bastards lol.
