First minor gripe this season Tony, i do understand how hard it is too get the people you want into " This Football Club ". But our bench was League 1 standard, with NO FORWARDS to be seen anywhere. Please with kind regards, address this problem ASAP Thanks
Hope so! Given our issues in the foward line I would ahve thought that would have been the area to strengthen first - afterall, goals win games! But in TP's defence, if they wont come then there is not alot we can do! Given our start to the season, I would have wanted someone in early. My concern is if we have a hard run of results it may be even harder to attract more quality! Anyway 31st all will be revealed!
We are now looking solid at the back, only weak point is Huthy at right back as it does not suit him and he will struggle against a pacey winger even though he did cope well today with Torres. If we can now build from this and sort out the midfield and strikers that cn hold the ball up to take pressure off the defence i think we will be ok after all!
I didnt really want to come on here being negative after all that has been said, but aggree 100% Waddo! It makes my blood boil that our strongest CB from last season is being reverted to RB where over a season will be massively exposed! He did a good job today and although I thought Woodgate was ok, I would rather have the Huth/Shawx paring in the middle! Its the same with Wilson at LB, he would be far better sitting infront of the back 4 as an outlet and it beggars belief that we have not bougth any full backs over the last couple of transfer windows. If TP doesnt fancey a couple of Full Backs and wants to play 3 CB's then surley we he would be better changing the formation to suit those players abilities! Today neither Ethrington or Pennant made the biline much today and there was no overlapping from the FB position, so you might as well play them as wing backs and get the crosses coming in from deeper with more pace! Anyway, dont want to be attcked for being negative, I thought today was a well deserved point, but it does feel about time that a change of tactics or formation would ease the fact that we are playing some quality players out of position!
Waddo and Smither's I thouht Woodgate played really well. NO WAY is Huth a right back and it needs sorting out quickly. Wilson is a midfielder so again, put him in front of a back3/4 and he's a totally different player. Won't critisise Stoke or T.P. today. Fantastic draw against a team full of class player's, potentially League Champions.. Well hapy with a pt, only downside is Ether's injury.
Yep, spot on! If ethrington's injury is bad and Delap has pulled his Hamstring, we are looking very thin on the fro midfielders!
Well fought for and deserved point! To check out the gulf between the two sides you only have to look at the quality of their subs today! Woodgate very solid, but Begovic was my MOM, top drawer saves. Fantastic. Hope Ethers is ok and also hope we can get the 3/4 players in we so obviously need sooner rather than later. UTP!!!
