Anyone who thinks that has been a poor season needs a reality check, we are Southampton, not Man City or even Everton come to that. I've said it before ands i'll say it again, Pochettino and Koeman would've struggled with the fixture schedule and injuries we have had this season. To get to a Wembley final and finish in the top half is a good achievement in any year and next season should, theoretically be a lot easier. I don't understand fans expecting more, we are punching above our weight and i'm proud of that.
Jesus ****ing Christ 'Any doubt'? I mean really? I understand you don't like Puel pal, but at least make some reasonable arguments instead of spouting **** like the above. Mate, look... honestly, I try to give you a chance as you're clearly very passionate... But with comments like this you're really taking the piss mush and no **** is gonna take you seriously and give you proper response. You deserve every ****ty response you get imo... you utter, utter thundercunt
Oh I see. I agree nationality doesn't really come into it, although it often gets mentioned when players/managers under perform. I've heard it said in matches (pellet last year etc) but difficult to interpret written down. I think only the author in this case knows whether there is any underlying racism, it didn't stand out to me and i ****ing hate racists. Anyway I think you could argue either way with puel at this point. We have had a good season, reaching the LC final. But failing at the group stage was not on and our league performances have been uninspiring. Question; is there a manager who could set up a team with tadic, Redmond, boufal, gabbiadini and long and get ONE GOAL against hull?
On another note I agree with this 100%. I said to someone earlier that I think a fair chunk of our fanbase are starting to get a sense of entitlement which I've not seen amongst our support before. The funny thing is, I tend to find that these fans are the same people who say stuff like 'Man United dont have a divine right to be in top 4'... but we don't have a divine right to be a top half PL team. To be perfectly honest, historically we are a lower midtable top division or upper 2nd tier club. Now obviously, we've been better than that in these last couple of years... and with the money/publicity around the PL at the moment our status is growing year on year. But currently we are who we are... and I personally thought that after our (imo) piss poor Summer that top 10 was too big an ask this season. We look set to achieve that though. Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant ... just ****ing pisses me off that a large chunk of our support have got this sense of entitlement that said same fans slate other (bigger) clubs for... Anyway... up the ****ing Saints
Yeah not bad mate, still out... just my Irish pal got chatting to a Kiwi about egg chasing and I got bored so checked here... Probs a mistake tbh
Great to see some of you at the pub, sorry I was late. Shame I wasn't late for the game, some 89 minutes late. That was like going to DFS to buy something and they don't have a sale on. We don't expect that to happen. I didn't expect today's performance to happen, especially with that line up, really nothing good to say about the game. Won't play that badly again for a while. We will be back (to st Mary's, not DFS) COYR. EDIT, birthdays over TLL, hope you had a good one, shame about the game.
My only disappointment today was knowing that Dusan was lining up to take the penalty. And as good as it apparently was, I was just waiting for the keeper to save it, as I was downloading a Windows 10 image file onto a Vista computer. We nerdy techies have to keep ourselves occupied otherwise too we'd nod off. Inevitably, Dusan and the Hull keeper fulfilled my disappointment.
About the penalty. In recent years we have had 2 superbly reliable penalty takers in mlt and srl. Keepers stood no chance. Tadics penalty was no worse than dozens of penalties we see every week in our leagues by top players. Quite simply it would have looked a good penalty had the keeper dived the other way. Players like zlatan and aguero have rolled the ball in the net in what were successful but very saveable penalties. Still a shame Austin wasn't on the pitch to take it off him.
Not convinced he does know actually. Anyhow, regardless, I'm not wholly convinced by CP as it happens, but he needs next season, which will be defining for him I think.
And David Peach and James Beattie, before and in between, were no mugs. They never missed or were saved, IIRC. Don't quite get their due credit. Scoring a penalty isn't about putting it in the corner or out of reach, though MLT mainly did that. It was more about the keeper knowing he wasn't going to save the thing. That's all about mind games, reputation and body language.
Saints fans sometimes need to take a deep breath. Expectation/entitlement, however people want to describe it is sometimes unrealistic and this coupled with ignorance of the game (yes that's going to upset some) can add to a poor atmosphere. One example yesterday: Hull had a few spells in the first half where they dominated possession. During one of those, the people around where I sit were shouting for us to get it up there or in there. At one point we got the ball wide on the left but about half way in their half and the chap who sits behind me shouted "just get it in there" and as we did cross it he shouted, "that's better" just as the ball floated on to the 6' defenders head - I don't think he jumped to beat Cedric. I turned to the chap ( I have known him in the years we've sat there) and said, "Great wasn't it?".... he shrugged his shoulders. All it is is impatience and expectation that we should score every time we get the ball.
Not suggesting that we couldn't have done better, but Hull need some credit....they made it very hard for us,,,,closing us down as we used to do to a lot of teams. Sometimes passing the ball back and being patient is the only way as they can't score without the ball. And sometimes fans miss things (and I'm not excluding myself from that)...in my section Tadic got stick for apparently going to pass the ball back when a better option was there....when in fact he had sold them a dummy and turned and passed the ball forward. As for the Frenchman controversy.....think it is just being rude to use it when his name is shorter. Only racist if you think being a Frenchman is an insult. People are too quick to pull the race card.
